RedCross is ready to accept your donation to aid Katrina victims
There is no doubt people are going to need a lot of help.

https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation-form.asp

I know there are people who don't like the Red Cross (and in the face of this storm I'm not wanting to start a flame war).

Why not post the name of where you are going to be sending aid money?

6. Do not take food or clothing to Shelters
We send it to the food banks, Operation Harvest, St Vincent de Paul.

Food is purchased from retailers or donated in bulk by retailers or otherwise obtained in bulk - to avoid contamination.

Clothing, bedding, etc. is "processed" (cleaned laundered) by Goodwill or the Salvation Army or St Vincent de Paul - to control transmission of disease.

We have a lot of people living in very close quarters under stressful conditions in a Mass Shelter -- and diseases travel quickly.

What we need is money.

4. There are a lot of very poor people in the New Orleans area
many of them can't get out because they have no transportation.

Too bad our government didn't plan for this. They could send in buses and make an effort to get people out, but instead all of these folks are being left to their own devices. God help them all because BushCo certainly isn't.

5. Gawd's punishment for banning gay marriage?
Yes, I know there are good, progressive people there too.

Gawd has never seemed to be too concerned about "collateral damage" in the past.

It is the sin of Sodom-- inhospitality toward outsiders-- that Gawd is punishing them for.

Because they forgot that he sent them a hurricane on election day to stop them from voting on the marriage amendment.
