Supporting War is the exact opposite of supporting the troops
There is nothing more damaging to troop levels and moral than war. The troops job is to maintain peace and in that I support them wholeheartedly. If America were to be attacked by another country then we should have war to defend ourselves but that has not happened since Pearl Harbor 1941. Even the most faithful anti-war activist will not condemn the US going to war in 1941 to defend itself. Every war since then though has not been in self defense but an elective war mostly done for War Profiteering. Anyone who really wants to support the troops would be for ending this and any/every war as quickly as possible. To state any different is just plain ignorant and usually done so by someone who never served in any Combat position. Please tell me how all the GIs who lost their lives in Korea or Vietnam helped the world or America. It was all in vain as Vietnam shows. Vietnamese are not in the streets of New York or LA killing Americans and neither are the North Koreans and neither will or would be the Iraqi people.. You can not support the troops by supporting war period......

1. absolutely...
to support this war is to support, glorify and worship meaningless murder. every family who has a "loved one" over in iraq who wants this war to continue either deep down inside is hoping their loved one will be murdered, or hates "those brown people" so much that they're willing to have their "loved one" murdered, just so he or she can go on killing iraqis.

this is foolishness. i'm not surprised neocons and their conservative ilk are too fucking stupid to understand this though. these are people who believe in fairy tales, and demons with horns and pointy tails too...

2. Agree + ...
in the town I live in ,so many cars have yellow ribbons that say support the troops on them ,(I believe this is this very weathly towns people way of showing they are repuk)Little 3 bdrm closet size homes are $700,000 ! I rent a condo here ,a life long Democrat. I always believed the best way to support our troops was by briniging them home alive ,instead of in a box. Why these people think keeping our young men and women in this hostile condition ,where they are not wanted ,a country where democracy is not wanted ,they dont believe in seperation of their religon and their goverment ,and dont want us telling them what to do .We are looked at a occupiers ,not freedom fighters .Why so many supposely intelligent peole would support dumba$$es stupid war for profit , who's only reason for going into Irag ,besides paying Sadam back for daddy ,was to line the pockets of his friends who sell the arms ,gas, food ,and every other aspect of a war , they get richer and our poor die younger. This whole "war" is a sick joke playing us for fools ! Its a shame that at this point in history our country would make such a barkwards turn , and history 100 years from now will look upon the U.S. unkindly ,and the entire fault lays at this repugnant pResident feet, Rant over !

3. If the anti-Iraq war protesters were silent,
how many of our troops would come to the conclusion that people didn't care that they were dying over there. Wouldn't they believe that they'd been deserted by everyone?

4. For a soldier in a combat zone, that's a very personal thing.
The 'support' they seek is from loved ones .... wife/fiancee/girlfriend, family, friends. When the 'CARE" packages stop coming, when the letters stop coming, that's when I freaked out. Protests are politically 'spun' in many ways. In Viet Nam, it was noted that "they're having fun marching (to save their own asses), but don't give a shit about us." It's hard to show 'support' to a guy (or gal) who's not heard from their loved ones as frequently as before.
