Iconoclast Deborah Mathews reports on anti-Cindy rally 8/27
Thousands: Crawford or Bust

'You Don't Speak For Me, Cindy'
Rally Coming To Crawford Saturday

By Deborah Mathews
ICONOCLAST REPORTER

CRAWFORD—Move America Forward is heading the movement themed “You Don’t Speak For Me Cindy” which has involved a trip from California to Crawford. The organization has been involved in organizing a rally to be held in Crawford at Pirate Field on Saturday, Aug. 27.

Members of the Free Republic are also helping to coordinate the “You Don’t Speak For Me Cindy” campaign. A caravan of supporters will leave the Wal-Mart parking lot in Waco at 12:30 p.m. and head toward Pirate Field in Crawford, where they will participate in the rally.

Parents and family members who have lost loved ones in Iraq will be present, along with anchorwoman Deborah Johns. Speakers will take the stage to talk about why Cindy Sheehan doesn’t speak for them. Free Republic spokesman and rally stage manager Kristinn Taylor said, “We are expecting several thousand supporters at the rally. Plans now are to hold the rally beginning about 1 p.m. and conclude it in mid-afternoon.”

Following the rally, supporters can visit Camp George — in the field just short of Camp Casey I; or Camp Reality — directly across from Camp Casey I; or Fort Qualls—a camp set up behind the Yellow Rose in downtown Crawford. Owner of the Yellow Rose, Bill Johnson, allowed Gary Qualls, the father of Lewis Qualls who was killed in Iraq, to establish the camp.

Fort Qualls will have a formal dedication ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday. This site has been used as a central point where those who wish to have names of loved ones removed from the crosses at Camp Casey to go here to submit that request. Taylor said that a request has been extended to Cindy Sheehan to debate Gary Qualls, but a response is yet forthcoming.

1. I can't fault them
They're exercising their rights. Even if it makes them pro-violence, pro-war, pro-bush dickheads.

8. Yes, they are exercising their rights....
but it seems they just have issues with poor Cindy Sheehan.

I mean, hello, Cindy doesn't profess to speak for EVERYONE. :eyes:

Just a load of deluded, sour, shrill individuals who need to blame somebody for the fact they cannot or WILL NOT see how they were duped.

I wish the names of the American people who oppose this war removed from the tax rolls, please!

3. That's not a "report".
It's basically an anti-Cindy pre-rally press release.

4. pro war protest
seems bizarre to me. What are they protesting? They have their war already. Not enough death or bloodshed for them?
Do they chant "make war, not peace" "Give war a chance"?

6. What I can't understand ...
... is why they aren't being pro-war but anti-Cindy.

If they want to wrap themselves in the Flag, then they should do it. But what's the deal with the 100%-anti-Cindy-Sheehan crusade? The coverage has been uniformly negative, even when the press has cranked up the pro-Bush bias, and they pretty much just look like nasty loons. And few of them will even talk about the wonderful things that the war is doing (in their jaundiced eyes). It's all hate-Cindy.

"Too bad about the War -- we've got us a new Hanoi Jane™!"

I know the hard-ass Right is fueled by hatred, but this doesn't even make sense.

10. Really since when did Cindy say she speaks for all Vet families
did I miss this somewhere? Why can't any of them that are going to this rally, answer the simple question...What was the noble reason Cindy's son, Casey died for? What was the noble reason all of those represented by those white crosses die for? Just answer the question.

11. Exactly!
I hate that argument "Well, she doesn't speak for me!!!"

See, it's more about them than it is for any other cause. Look at me, I slamming another person. :eyes:

No compassion, no understanding, no good intentions. I hate it when people who are in so obvious denial slam the person who is brave enough to stand up for the truth. :(
