IF YOU CAN READ THIS EVACUATE THE NEW ORLEANS AREA. |
|
Edited on Sun Aug-28-05 01:20 PM by benburch
Get off the fucking computer. RUN.
You have maybe 14 (EDIT: More like four hours for the outer bands of severe weather ) hours before it will be too late to go anywhere.
Get out.
NOW.
You no longer have time to board windows.
You no longer have time to save property.
Get yourself and your family and as many others as you can carry into your car fill it with gas and get out.
If you have no car, get to the Amtrak station and get on a train.
Hitchhike if you have to.
New Orleans will most likely be under water by this time tomorrow.

3. I don't understand why the Gov, or the Red Cross, or SOMEBODY! |
|
Isn't evacuating the people who don't have the resources to leave!
Superdome? This is bullshit!
You mean FEMA doesn't have money to get some buses to people without cars?

is an RN and lives outside of Mandeville (walking distance from the causeway). She is on duty until midnight and says she'll be fired if she leaves and aprox half the staff have been evacuated and the rest, including janitorial staff, are moving patients to the super dome...

They showed a man downtown, with all his belongings, sitting on a bench. He probably doesn't even know or care that a storm is coming.

31. You are right: the gov't should have ahad a plan to evacuate |
|
the whole city regardless of whether people had their own transportation
To just consign 100,00 people to the elements and a "shit you're outta luck" is disgraceful and inhumane in what most of the people like to call THE WEALTHIEST NATION ON EARTH

Just call the railroad and tell them that it must happen. This is a port. There will be empty cars. There will be at least switching engines.

|
and it would be heartbraking to know people are in effin' traffick jams and not able to get out. The other thing is that if they go north and east the storm will be right on their heels. The size of the storm actually looks about 50% the size of the Gulf and it is now comming on to the warmest waters
I really, really, REALLY want to be able to post about the near miss scenario by Tuesday!
Godspeed to everyone!
