Consider a Donation to the Red Cross Now. |
|
I hope it isn't a violation to solicit donations on DU, but the Red Cross is going to shoulder a major burden of helping the residents with the aftermath of the hurricane. I've seen the Red Cross in action after tornadoes, and they're fantastic. You can do it on-line at www.redcross.org. If you prefer another group, that's fine, too. The point is that the residents down there are going to need tons of help beyond what the feds are going to do.

Not when they pay their CEO almost a half million $$$ in salary. I'll find another charity to donate to. Check out http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm/bay/search.summary/orgid/3277.htm

In a flood disaster years ago, they were charging for coffee and meals. I'll never support them again, but instead find a local group so that I know my donation will be used for the locals.

Hell, if Wal-mart organizes a drive to help victims of the storm, I'd put more faith in them than I would in the Red Cross, and that says a lot, feeling the way I do about Wal-mart.
