WHERE'S GEORGE? >>>
Why are these people trapped in New Orleans? Why does no one help them evacuate? Where is the President? SHAME ON HIM.

Thousands of people wait outside the Louisiana Superdome to be let in for shelter from Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans August 28, 2005. Authorities in New Orleans ordered hundreds of thousands of residents to flee on Sunday as Hurricane Katrina strengthened into a rare top-ranked storm and barreled towards the vulnerable U.S. Gulf Coast city. 1. I don't understand why we're not shipping these people out of the city
there's still time to get them out, why are we stuffing them into the superdome?

This picture REALLY pisses me off. And yes, I would also like to know where George is.

Oh, gawd, my macabre joke almost made me vomit. I'm so sorry, but I'm so angry, and I feel so helpless.

13. Time is up - the winds are picking up and services are closing
Roads were crowded and their was fear of gas shortages. A day is not enough time to evacuate that number of people if they are unable to evacuate themselves. It is a poor state. Maybe if the federal government could have acted immediately but no one knew until today that this was going to be a category 5.

When asked to comment, Bush replied:

"But," he added, "I think it's also important for me to go on with my life, to keep a balanced life."

4. AWOL as usual
These poor people are all stuck there more or less on their own. God help them all because George certainly won't.

Where's Homeland Security? Where's the National Guard? Why aren't there any buses lined up to take these people out of there?

What is happening to these people is criminal and Bush is responsible.

Edited on Sun Aug-28-05 04:49 PM by Greylyn58
Why haven't they flown some of the huge C4 transport planes in to take those people out of the area.

Shrub doesn't care for these people. Not to be racial, but you'll notice a large portion of these poor people are African-Americans so they don't get a second thought from the Shrub!!!

29. That's a good idea. However, it might be impossible to get them
to the airport. But, Lakefront airport is only about 6 miles from downtown. Still would be problematic since the highways are jammed up. Helicopters could fly continually from the Riverfront or even the front or side of the Superdome. Ferry the people to North of the lake and then put them in busses.

What an ignoble bastard--leadership? He doesn't know the meaning of the word. A natural disaster of epic proportions and he's invisible. Unfreaking believable! Can you imagine Clinton or even Reagan behaving like this?

19. The National Guard should be driving people out in trucks.
Even if they had to call in the National Guard from other states. The time to act is BEFORE the disaster.

As far as I know, Bush has made no effort to evacuate people.

21. What will they do when the storm passes? Check this link from the
National Weather Service:

http://kamala.cod.edu/offs/KLIX/0508281550.wwus74.html

<snip>
"MOST OF THE AREA WILL BE UNINHABITABLE FOR WEEKS...PERHAPS LONGER....WATER SHORTAGES WILL MAKE HUMAN SUFFERING INCREDIBLE BY MODERN STANDARDS."
<snip>

There will be thousands of people in the Dome who may open the doors on Tuesday to find an underwater city of no food, no water, no electricity, no services, and near total devastation. What then?

31. I can hardly believe they have not planned for this
I mean, I'm not authority, but from my short experience with emergency services we had plans for worst case scenarios even for a nuclear disaster at the power plant. We had a plan with the bus companies, private and public, that in the event of an evacuation they knew where they were to go and would take care of that area, etc. We had planned with host communities that would take in the evacuees, where they would be housed, etc. and every other thing you could imagine. Each area down there must have a certain number of school buses if not anything else. What if there was a toxic leak in a certain area, don't they have a plan for that?

Well, I don't know what they are dealing with but I look at these people and am terrified for them. What if the superdome starts breaking up with all those people in there?

there have to be officials inside the Superdome that they could interview. They have interviewed hotel managers downtown and there's a reporter on Bourbon Street. :scared: But not one word from inside the Superdome, that I have heard. Have you?
