POWER OUTAGES WILL LAST FOR WEEKS...AS MOST POWER POLES WILL BE DOWN AND TRANSFORMERS DESTROYED. WATER SHORTAGES WILL MAKE HUMAN SUFFERING INCREDIBLE BY MODERN STANDARDS. <snip>

9. There are cell phone chargers that run on 9 volt batteries. |
|
They may be able to find them at Radio Shack. Charging is a good idea. Remember the car charger so you can recharge the phone in the car if necessary.
Fill up all tubs, sinks and containers (including garbage cans) with water. Non-potable water can be used to flush toilets. Fill up every potable water jug and container. Keep your medicines with you. If possible, put furniture up on blocks if you're in a flood prone area. Keep your pets safe. Buy pet food.
Buy candles and lighters. Charcoal and lighter fluid will be good for grilling when electricity is off. Propane Coleman stoves and lanterns should be used OUTDOORS. Buy extra gas if you can. Buy batteries.
God have mercy on New Orleans, Louisiana and the Gulf Coast.
