Is is too late for Pat Robertson to turn Katrina away?
Edited on Sun Aug-28-05 08:42 PM by Adenoid_Hynkel
not to politicize this, but someone should ask that that charlatan and would-be Moses why he can't do for New Orleans what he supposedly did for Virginia Beach.

for the uniitiated:
"Robertson claims to have used the power of prayer to steer hurricanes away from his companies' Virginia Beach, Virginia headquarters. He took credit for steering the course in 1985 of Hurricane Gloria, which caused millions of dollars of destruction in many states along the east coast. He made a similar claim about another destructive storm, Hurricane Felix, in 1995. In 2003, Robertson called on God to prevent Hurricane Isabel from hitting Virginia Beach."

2. I can think of many reasons Pat would hold back his missive to the lord
to save NO. They would all have to do with his hatred of humanity.

3. Sure, he could send it to Venezuela.
As they say, kill two birds with one storm.

4. If the city is spared by the storm, Pat will take credit for it.
If the Big Easy goes under, Falwell will blame the homos, pagans, feminists and Clinton.

7. I think Katrina is after him. We should send him out as a sacrifice.
Maybe Katrina - the god - will forgive us all.

9. Like Hell! The Bastard steers them at ME!
He pulled that with Gloria, and damn if the eye didn't pass right over my (then) home in Long Island! We lucked out and it hit at low tide, but it wasn't for his lack of trying!

10. New Orleans Is A Wicked City
I bet that's what he would say.

I feel just sick thinking about what could happen. I mean, my stomach is all in knots.

I live in Florida, so I can empathize with their fear. I don't just remember Charley, Frances, Ivan, Jeanne, but in 1999 I was leaving work because Hurricane Floyd was off the east coast and wasn't turning to the North like most models predicting. At the time it was packing 145 mph winds and I looked all around me and wondered how much of it would be left the next day. It turned at the last minute, but not before scaring many of us.

11. He only has power over hurricanes with Latin names
Gloria, Felix, Isabel - all Latin. Katrina - Greek. Apparently he could sway Catherine or Catalina, but not Katrina. :eyes:
