Hillary Clinton voted NO on Byrd's amendment today. Why? |
|
Anybody understands this? Biden also voted no. Byrd wanted to hold the approval of 17b until an explanation is given on how the money is going to be spent ($50 thousand trucks?)

I believe I heard his name. No suprise there. I would assume that Zell Miller also voted no but he doesn't show up for a lot of votes so he may have not been there.

Other than her vote on the Iraq resolution, she has virtually never sided with Bush. What are you talking about??? BTW, you're no better than Rush in calling her a bitch. I find that word very offensive. Who cares if she was a Goldwater girl 40 years ago?

foolish, and thought he was 'cool' because I had chatted with him on ham radio. I regret the vote but I don't think he was a bad person generally. People change.

People are slowly waking up to this, but the Democratic establishment wisdom changes about as quickly as the vatican changes coarse on birth control.

|
pickup trucks that cost $14,000. Landrieu was a slug too. And Biden did just what I said he would do in another thread. "Oh, I'm gonna criticize the administration, then just CAVE when it comes right down to it."
Oh, and Iraq really needs zip codes, whose planning costs millions of $$.
THIS MAKES ME SICK. I was never really fond of Hillary before, but not questioning the administration about their PLAN for Iraq and the money that is going to contractors, THIS SMELLS TO HIGH HEAVEN!!

12. bYRD JUST INTRODUCED IT THIS am. |
|
Split the $87 BILLION "emergency" appropriations bill for Iraq/Afghanistan into two bills.(Defeated, 38 to 59.)The troops support bill would have been passed right away. The Other 21 Billion bill was to be Iraqi reconstruction, about which a lot of people had questions, and Byrd thought needed more hearings and didn't need to be voted on for a couple of months.
Contracts, over-pricing, more high priced execs from the U. S., NO PLAN for Iraqi reconstruction,,,,,a LOT OF QUESTIONS. bUT hILLARY BUNKED. i GUESS SHE LIKES SPENDING OUR TAX MONEY FOR CONTRACTORS.

9. Desperately seeking REAL DEMOCRATS |
|
WTF is wrong with this picture?
These mushball Senate Dems like Biden and Clinton are even worse than the GOP, IMHO.
At least with the GOP, we KNOW they're going to be against us. The mushball Dems act like they'll put up a good fight and defend the interests of working people, but when it comes time to cut the nuts, they roll over and play dead so the Rethugs can walk right over them.
Bill Clinton was the same way. He talked the talk, but he NEVER showed any REAL backbone against the Repubs. Keerist, why bother voting for Democrats anymore when the ones we elect end up doing the bidding of the Bush admin anyway?
I say toss them out on their useless asses and elect some REAL Democrats in their places.

|
Both have always sold out, imo, when it came to issues like this..Look at their record.. Hillary voted to give Bu$h a blank check before the war.. Ted Kennedy and Byrd are the heroes in all this...any Dem who voted for Bu$h's blank cheque for the war , no matter how hard they try to spin it, are behaving like DINOs then and now. Republican Lite Dems are all over Congress.

I don't know why the Republican wingnuts are so afraid that Hillary is going to run in 2004. After all, she votes with them on issues that are important to Democrats.
The money that's going to be spent on 'reconstruction' (read: Halliburton profits) is obscene. To vote blindly for price gouging and corporate theft paid 100% by the American taxpayers is a disgrace. Hell, even Feinstein voted for the Byrd amendment.
I don't care what procedural objection she had. The amendment wouldn't have passed due to the Republican majority, so she may as well vote her conscience. She voted for her political butt instead.

18. This is not related to Hillary but to the Republicans in the Senate |
|
I had posted this in another thread, and got no reaction. I just want to know if I am overly sensitive to people from other countries, especially those who we invade but:
Bond (Republican from MO) and Gordon Smith (R OR) said the same thing on the Senate floor today:
IRAQ IS LIKE A ROACH MOTEL FOR TERRORISTS!
And they sounded so proud of it.
Why do Americans think that it is GOOD to fight the war on terrorism in another people's country? It is better that they kill all the Iraqis so as they said the terrorists don't come to Missouri?
Why do we value Iraqi lives less than ours?
A roach motel for terrorists... I am TOTALLY OFFENDED!!!!!
I feel so embarrassed with our view of the world!!! We are happy that the terrorists are killing Iraqis and ruining their country so that they don't ruin ours? The population was tortured by Saddam, they did not want to go to war. What is the matter with us that we can say this with a straight face and think it is OK?

35. No you're not being overly sensitive - you're absolutely right. |
|
I find it to be disgusting as well. Millions have died in the Congo in the last few years as a result of the civil war and I have not heard a single word about it from CNN, MSRNC or FUX. I've never heard any mention of it from Dan Rather or Peter Jennings. Fuck them right? They are just African babies ripped from their mother’s arms. It's not like they matter. It's not like they even come close to being as important as Laci Peterson.
By the way, I was going to start a thread asking exactly the same question about Hillary. I know she's not the only one who voted with the pukes today but she sticks out to me because so many DUers give her a free ride. In my opinion she's only a liberal when it won't hurt her career.

28. She voted for the war because she was pressured by AIPAC... |
|
What few realize, is that AIPAC and PNAC, along with the JDL and JINSA, pretty much all work hand in hand. All support the Likud, and Likud's leader Sharon, and all have been banging the drums for invasions of Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lybia, etc., ...all the countries on PNAC's list. I'll bet Feinstein, and several other AIPAC puppies voted against Byrd's bill too. Clinton is yet another AIPAC whore, who is willing to sell her country down the tubes to support Israel.

I would be ok with that, and I don;t beleive we should help re-building Mosques, but their are also needs, such as health care and food, that I believe they need the help right away on, if Byrd were to seperate those from his ammendment I may be ok with it. I don't have an objection to building schools in Iraq, I think we should build schools and hosptials both here and their.

that the Byrd Amendment would have cut Bush's proposed $20.3 billion in U.S. rebuilding aid to Iraq to $5.1 billion. Maybe there will be other amendments. They haven't approved the $87 billion yet. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uslatest/story/0,1282,-3215820,00.html
