"glorified secretary?" What an ignorant misogynistic comment! If a woman works for the CIA she must be fetching coffee for the men.:grr:

If the CIA told him not to reveal her name, why the hell did he do it? What was the point of revealing her name? To what end? Who would this serve? And when is this prick going to admit she was a covert operative, as was stated in the WH memo from Gonzalez? And why doesn't Wolf ask him these things?

36. I hope I can explain this the way I'm thinking it... |
|
is this a roundabout way of the administration trying to disprove Wilson's report that the Niger claim was a lie? Stupid way to do it, yes, but perhaps they didn't think it would blow up like this? Claim that since Wilson was sent by his wife, and because they're supposedly "partisan", that they tried to cast the administration in a bad light? (Of course, the fact that Wilson also contributed to Bush is never brought up. Sounds like a "bi-partisan" to me.) Did they think that the only thing that the press would pick up on was the connection between Wilson and his wife, and not that she was outed? A crackpot plan, yes, but who knows the way their minds work? Maybe they thought they'd get away with it because everyone just loves this pResident so much, they'd never think badly of him?

IMO Wilson's story about no Niger-Iraq-uranium connection was really getting on the WH's nerves; he really was the guy with the proof that Bush lied in his SOTU. It was a serious situation and, true to form, instead of refuting Wilson's claims substantively, because they couldn't, they had to to go after his character alluding to nepotistic cronism, which, coincidently, is a BFEE trademark. I'd guess that in the future, if the truth is ever written, that Rove giving this stuff to Novak was done because he was desperate to get the hounds off his and the BFEE's ass and maybe didn't even see the consequences or decided it was worth the risk.
Just some thoughts

It makes sense that they would have done it to get back at Wilson (though he himself has said that he doesn't think that is why they did it) or perhaps they did it to intimidate any others (namely within the CIA) that were going to come out and criticize the administration.
But perhaps they did just ROYALLY fucked up in applying the usual spin job. I like that idea. Not only are they evil, they are just fucking stupid too.

43. How did Novak know he wasn't being used as a pawn? |
|
Novak told Wolf he was incensed that Wolf had reported that the story had been farmed out to six other sources before he finally agreed to be the only reporter to run with it. Now, how would Novak know whether or not these "administation officials" had talked to any one else about Plame's identity? Did he ask his sources, after the fact, whether they had talked to anyone else? The whole art of using people as pawns is insuring that they have no idea how they are being used.

He was even aggressive toward Blitzer, who basically just presented a simple repeat of the facts everybody knows. Blitzer is hardly an enemy of BFEE, but you wouldn't have known that from Novak's paranoid statements. So, just what is Novak hiding about his beloved rightwing machine?
