2. He tried to take on the NEOCON/ROVE Cabal. He got personally
smeared. I respect him. He's beat them before. Who says he can't beat them again? Especially since they've been given the rope to hang start hanging themselves with their chimp in office.

he actually won the election, they just "forgot" to tell anyone. But also remember that Al Gore should have been the incumbent, not short-shorts-idiot-in-chief GW Bu$H. Hey mom, I'm going on a bike-ride.

5. You should have two options for unfavorable
(too moderate or too liberal).

That way, we could know how many republicans vote here. And I guess this may be a lot.

14. Very impressive list of activities.
However, I think he did a poor job in the campaign of 2000. His backing of the Iraq war and later stating that he would still back it after it was learned that the reasons given by the administration were lies were enough for me to lose interest in him. He may or may not be a good man. I don't know. But, he had his time at bat and struck out.

You, of course, are dedicated to defending him for whatever your reasons. That's OK with me. But, I have the right to try to discourage fellow Du'ers regarding him. I think we would be wise to look elsewhere for leadership.

16. 2004, I imagine.

As for the rest, you should know by now this is not true. Kerry did NOT say that or at least this was not the question he answered to, but you and others keep repeating and repeating again and again the same thing.

I know it is difficult to believe that there are people who like Kerry and believe in him, but it is the case, and more than you think.

So, dislike him if you want, but check your info.

19. I defend him as I defend any democrat in washington trying to make a
difference. . .why would anyone want to discourage Democrats who are fighting Bush?

PS I think you are misinterpreting what Kerry said:

“This was the hardest vote I have ever had to cast in my entire career,” Kerry said. “I voted for the resolution to get the inspectors in there, period. Remember, for seven and a half years we were destroying weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. In fact, we found more stuff there than we thought we would. After that came those four years when there was no intelligence available about what was happening over there. I believed we needed to get the weapons inspectors back in. I believed Bush needed this resolution in order to get the U.N. to put the inspectors back in there. The only way to get the inspectors back in was to present Bush with the ability to threaten force legitimately. That’s what I voted for.”

“The way Powell, Eagleberger, Scowcroft, and the others were talking at the time,” continued Kerry, “I felt confident that Bush would work with the international community. I took the President at his word. We were told that any course would lead through the United Nations, and that war would be an absolute last resort. Many people I am close with, both Democrats and Republicans, who are also close to Bush told me unequivocally that no decisions had been made about the course of action. Bush hadn’t yet been hijacked by Wolfowitz, Perle, Cheney and that whole crew. Did I think Bush was going to charge unilaterally into war? No. Did I think he would make such an incredible mess of the situation? No. Am I angry about it? You’re God damned right I am. I chose to believe the President of the United States. That was a terrible mistake.”

24. John Kerry
I don't know if you recall that John Kerry voted to give shrub the option to go to war as a LAST RESORT! shrub lied to him as well as the rest of the world. I'm sure he did this in good faith, expecting that if he were to become President and we were "really in danger", he would have wanted the same backing from the Congress and Senate. He had his eyes on more dangerous threats like No. Korea and Iran!! (and catching Osama) When he was cornered into answering questions by our wonderful liberal press:sarcasm: the answer he gave was taken out of context! I know what he meant, but many others didn't. I believe he said if he had to vote over now, knowing what he knew then, he would still vote to give the President the option to use all means possible, and go to war as a last resort. He was tricked into thinking that shrub would do as he said he would!!! Also, HE DIDN"T STRIKE OUT!! He was thrown nothing but FOUL BALLS!!! Please remember, it took "tricky Dick" two tries before he made it! John Kerry won once, and he can win again!!! Plus at the time he said what you misquoted him as saying , was before we all knew that shrub was lying!!

31. He voted for a RESOLUTION with war as the last resort. He never said war
was used a last resort, in fact, he has said that Bush RUSHED to war unnecessarily.

8. I just love John Kerry
Edited on Sun Aug-28-05 09:27 PM by FreedomAngel82
:loveya: He's a personal hero. I just finished watching "Unfinished Symphony" with my dad and they showed Kerry and he's just the best. *sigh* Sure, I wish he was more of the 1971 Kerry now days but he's still great. And Kerry is pretty liberal. Earlier this year there was the stats released on everybody who was more liberal and who was more conservative and Kerry was right after Kennedy.

11. When Bob Dole lost, he was out and about
a whole lot, not just the Viagra commercials, which were quite tantalizing, but clearly speaking out in opposition to us. John Kerry just doesn't seem to be anywhere around and Al Gore seemingly is gone, too...and why isn't his new cable channel political?

12. Fortunately you are wrong -- Kerry is way way out and about -- links here

There does seem to be a TV ban on kerry, but he is very very active. Did you follow Bolton hearings at all for example?

Oh well -- here's coverage of a big speech not so long ago:

Kerry thinks GOP is vulnerable
By Andrew Garber
Seattle Times staff reporter

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/cgi-bin/PrintStory.pl?document_id=2002446683&zsection_id=2002111777&slug=kerry20m&date=20050820

<snip>
Kerry got the most applause when he took shots at Republicans and the Bush administration, saying they were out of touch with the American people.

"America's future is being hijacked today by a group of politicians whose interest in exercising power and presenting a narrow ideological agenda and winning elections ... has taken all precedence over a legitimate effort to solve the problems of our country," he said.

Kerry blasted President Bush's policies on education, the environment and the war in Iraq. "The president said the other day he believes we ought to be teaching 'intelligent design' in our schools. I think we ought to be getting some intelligent design in our policy on Iraq," he said.

13. Don't any of the MSM shows want him...I saw him before the
election on Jon Stewart but not since....I admittedly never watch MSM but I read more news quotes from Kennedy than Kerry. I am glad to hear he is out there.

Washington's Broken: The Nuclear Option April 21, 2005
Remarks As Prepared for Delivery Senate Floor

<snip>

Are we really willing to allow Washington to become a place where they can rewrite the ethics rules to protect Tom DeLay - and then sell out the ethics of the American people by refusing to rewrite the law to provide health care to every child in America?

Are we really willing to allow the Senate to fall in line with the Majority Leader when he invokes faith to rewrite Senate rules to put substandard, extremist judges on the bench?

It’s not up to any one of us to tell another colleague what to believe as a matter of faith.

But I can tell you what I believe: When tens of thousands of innocent souls have perished in Darfur-when 11 million children are without health insurance-when our colossal debt subjects our economic future to the whims of Asian bankers-no one can tell me that faith demands this Senate spend its time arguing over a handful of judges. No one with those priorities can use my faith intimidate me.

It’s time we make it clear that we’re not willing to lay down and put this narrow, stubborn agenda ahead of our families, ahead of our Constitution, and ahead of our values.

25. Bob Dole made a fool of himself -
The media gave him many platforms and he used them. He also did the Viagra ads and a disgusting ad for Pepsi where he was oggling a teen age Britney Spears with a suggestion that implied he was atracted to her.

Kerry returned to the Senate and has worked with others to define a positive agenda. He has kept people on his email list informed on things the Bush administration is doing, suggested ways people can be involved and worked to help Democratic candidates for 2005 and 2006. In Senate hearings, he is often one of the best prepared and one of the best at asking questions. He has also articulated, as well as anyone, how the Senate is betraying its own role and history as a deliberative body when the Republicans rubber stamp the Bush agenda. His behavior since the election has been graceful and dignified - unlike Bob Dole.

18. I really like John Kerry and voted for him
On the other hand, he disappointed me so much when he wouldn't fight, and gave up much to easily. He should have squelched the Swift Boat liars, it was plain to see that they were just junkyard bullies, and it would have been befitting for him to fight fire with fire!! Here's to you John; I still think you're a true american. :patriot: :patriot:

27. My admiration for John Kerry has grown since the election.
He was my first choice during the primaries, but I knew very little about the man. What I have learned about him since the election has lead me to respect him even more. I don't always agree with every vote or everything opinion, but I know that everyone of his votes and everyone of his opinions are the result of thoughtful contemplation, research, study ,care and concern. The man has integrity.

30. The more I learn about Kerry,
the more I admire and respect him. I'd be proud to support him again and have him as POTUS.

That said, 2008 is a long way off. 2006 should be the focus at this time. These mid-terms are bigger than most!
