Mississippi Gulf Coast is evacuating too.
http://www.sunherald.com/mld/sunherald/news/nation/12501315.htm

If Katrina hits New Orleans head on, the hurricane force winds will still stretch as far as Mobile, AL. If the storm makes a sudden zig to the right, it will hit the MS coast head on.

Harrison, Hancock and Jackson county officials ordered mandatory evacuations in some areas and urge other residents to leave town.

That is the ENTIRE Mississippi Gulf Coast. The point of this is that for those that have left New Orleans on I-10, then have to then turn and head North for a long ways, on roads that are crowded with Mississippi Gulf Coast people.

Evacuation is NOT just a New Orleans problem. And the fact of so many other evacuees compounds the New Orleans problem.

And all of that on very short notice.
