Are Robertson and Falwell praying "for" or "against" New Orleans?
Past practices would suggest "against."

Question 2: Will those two go "to" hell, or just "through" hell on their way to a worse place?

1. What makes you think God listens to them?
:hi:

8. I didn't come close to suggesting that, Rev.CH!
God knows more about my sweet dog dying in my arms a few days ago than he knows about their rantings. Eh? I'm just wondering about their current (or next) misplaced rant to their misled flock.

2. Acutally, God is punishing Robertson for being so mean to Chavez.

3. Gotta figure it's win/win for them. If the storm leaves New Oleans
standing, Robertson will take credit. If it leaves New Orleans underwater, Falwell will say it's because of homos, pagans, and feminists.

they can't lose!

hey, Mac, question: You have ham radio right? (or is it hamm?) Do they run on battery? Was wondering if you might let us know if you hear from trof over the air. Worried about him. Thanks.

7. Sure they can lose, you forgot Option C
The hurricane hit Louisiana because it's a red state and God hates red states.

Since hurricanes only hit states that voted for Bush, that must be the case.

12. First, yes. Most transceivers run on a 12 volt DC power supply.
Ergo, a good strong 12-volt car battery will do the trick for a while. A number of other points, though, as they come to mind:

1. I did not know trof was a ham radio operator. I tend to think that he is not. We have talked on the phone before, and he probably knows I am a ham, but he has never mentioned it. I know his real name (M.L.), and it is not listed in the FCC call-sign directory.

2. Trof is a former F-86 fighter pilot and a retired TWA Boeing 747 captain. He respects weather.

3. Batteries or no, antennae don't stand up to high winds.

4. During storms, lightning and P-static (precipitation static) severely attenuate signals.

5. Even my hard-headed GOP sister, who lives in Point Clear fairly near trof, finally evacuated this afternoon.

Sleep tight. Trof is a smart cookie. But even if he has a ham HF radio, it is useless tonight.

15. Damn, thought he had radio
among his many other tricks. Just thought it might make it easier to communicate after the storm passes. Figure power will be out in a lot of places for some time. Hell, we lost 600 line poles in my part of the world and some folks were in the dark for a couple weeks. Not even a hurricane.

Also wondering how Nik Nik was doing... maybe talk later.

18. He might. Might just be a receiver. Might be a scanner. Might be CB.
Might be a pirate station!

BTW: Anybody got the 20/40/80 meter FCC emergency frequencies for Katrina? I used to get an update, but don't anymore. Guess I can get them on the internet.

13. Bashing Robertson & Falwell is NOT Christian bashing.
They made themselves political figures. They can deal with the fallout for the outrageous shit they say.
Show me evidence that they are actually Christian. Been following their dog and pony shows for decades and have yet to see anything resembeling Christian behavior.

Equating those two con men to Christians is the real Christian bashing.

16. Robertson prayed for this type of tragedy for Orlando.
Besides, he is not a Christian by a long shot, and I am not Christian bashing. I am Falwell/Robertson bashing.

On edit: Got my non-Christian mouthpieces confused. E-Z to do with this duo.

17. Here's one reason for "for" -
New Orleans itself is HEAVILY democratic, but of course Louisiana is "red." If New Orleans gets destroyed, not only will thousands be killed, but tens of thousands, if not a few hundred thousand, will have to move away permanently from the city. They may even move out of state. Thus, if the "doomsday scenario" occurs, the Republicans will suffer in the 2010 Census, and red Louisiana will LOSE some electoral votes! It's all about the Electoral College, people!

The more people are suffering, the more they believe they will need the leadership of the voodoo black magic salesman...
