I just filled my gas tank and..... |
|
I mentioned to the cashier that I thought I had better fill my tank with the anticipation of gas prices going up because of the hurricane. She said that she had "heard" that their prices were going to go up to $3.10 per gallon on Tuesday. They are current price is $2.65 per gallon.
Just a heads up...

"hit" Crawford" as hard as it hits New Orleans. Can you see * now refusing to open up the reserve? Or explaining why there is no security from looters because they are "fighting them over there". Or why so much money was taken from the Army Corp of Engineers maintaining the levees or why NO was reduced as important from FEMA. Methinks * has a lot of explaining to do. Maybe this is some of the "sacrifices" we have to endure for Iraq to turn Muslim.

But it is almost $4 a US gallon here (Canada) ... no sympathy until you catch up.

4. Yeah, but you guys have jobs, |
|
health care and education. I'd pay 4.00 a gallon easily for all of that.

6. The jobs aren't a result of the $4 a gallon |
|
They are a result of careful resource management and entrepeneurship. The Health Care and Education we pay for in income taxes - not gas taxes, there are gas taxes but they mainly go to roads and public transit (same as you, except for the public transit part).

My point was, I would trade places with you in a heartbeat. Our income taxes go to the already wealthy on the Hill....they need raises, you know. And wars.

I did. I'm not trying to be mean, (I'm really not a mean person) but the US has 3% of the worlds population and uses 25% of it's fuel. The US is also pumping water out of Canada so that people who live in the desert can have swimming pools ... the US needs to learn to consume less and that is more of an individual and local issue than it is a federal (George Bush) issue.

15. My country treats the rest of the world like a garbage dump! |
|
The industrial revolution really started it all and America was A #1 first place in production. Now we are A #1 polluters and a major cause of (wait for it lurkers) GLOBAL WARMING. Not good.
If I didn't live in a nice community, I would move to Canada (I like cold weather far better than hot).

10. I'd pay 4.00 or even 5.00 for decent social services. |
|
I'd pay that for a decent education for the American youth, decent health care, good public transportation and whatever else our society needs. That sounds like a great deal.

The price of gas here has little or nothing to do with social services, health care etc., It is the society that Canada built, based on the hard work of Canadians over many generations. When Bush was elected the first time I left, and from the day I arrived I felt like I was home. If I came up here and acted like an American I likely would be back already, but as things are, given my beliefs etc, I was welcomed with open arms.

Do you have decent public transportation?
Access to basic health care?
Decent public services?
How bad is your urban sprawl?

on all counts, but it's not because we pay more for gas. The gas tax goes to roads and public transit - also we are an oil exporting country (we supply 18-20% of your oil) our prices should be lower, not higher.

I don't know if I had a point really... but to say if I could answer yes to all of those questions I wouldn't bitch at all about the price of gas, but seeing as how I don't - added to the fact that I never have voted against my own interests like half the dumbasses in this country - well I feel like I'm being robbed and ass raped. If you don't have any sympathy for me then fine... you can bite me too.

minimum-wage-teenage-gas-and-go-girls are a reputable source of information. :eyes:
While there is little doubt that gas prices are going to increase, it might suit you better if you at least quoted an authorative source.
