Can anyone watching NO news update me on the hospitals?

Have they indicated which (if any) have closed/relocated patients? I'm specifically asking about Touro which is near the Quarter and which would be at great risk. I have close friends working there who I can't reach. Anyone heard anything?

1. I wouldn't worry too much about the hospitals

They are generally the most structurally sound buildings in any city for that reason.
Hospitals have elaborate emergency preparedness procedures.
If your friends are in NO and stuck in a hospital, they are probably in one of the safest places they can be.
I'll keep them in my prayers.

My understanding they have moved all non- critical patients and staff to the Super Dome critical and higher to other hospitals out of the aera.

of evacuating hospitals (WDSU)

9. This was from a nursing home that was evacuated.

They were taking the residents to Baton Rouge.

6. I just heard an interview on MSNBC with someone from Tulane Hosp

They are planning to remain open but have evacuated the lower 2(?) floors. The OR was moved higher, too (I can't imagine how they could actually do that, but that's what I think I heard).

Hospitals are probably the safest buildings anywhere.
They just have to get up out of the floods.
ANother poster here today said they had a friend who was a doc there.
They have assigned many personnel to the Superdome and the others are at the actual facilities.

if it were most any hospital other than Touro--just knowing where it is located. Give the French Quarter is expected to be under 20feet of water, so, too would this hospital...

8. They will clean out a room upstairs and then

they basically just move their sterile supply carts upward and designate the area as the operating room.
It's easier than it sounds.
The only surgery they will be doing is emergency surgery.
It's going to be difficult without running water.

Is built extremely strongly, in theory it should structurally be fine (window breakage).

As for the flooding, its actually located in one of the few areas of the city above sea level.
