11. it's NOT funny...think about what's making these weather people freak out |
|
These people know what is coming and it's beyond their control and they are the weathermen... it's like this guy they had on All things considered... he had spent the last year testing the effects of the "big one" on New Orleans. The way he said at the end of the interview "You know, I am not feeling very good right now." Creeped me the fuck out. his voice was weak and close to cracking.

If I was to do that no matter how much stress I was under I would be fired. Forgive me, but it is funny seeing a man making 4 times what I do freak out while on national television. You would think he would have more self restraint, but hey, if you want to make excuses for him go ahead.

...but he sure seemed to be fuming about the government's decision to stick people in the Superdome -- he implied that it could turn into a death trap. That topic was the initial buildup to the explosion.
I better go back and watch the remaining rounds. ;-)

the Superdome was going to be used as a shelter for thousands.
I missed the subsequent exchange with Carol Costello.

35. I was wondering the same thing......... |
|
I'm not sure if I would want to be stuck inside the Super Dome. I mean, they're not supposed to go in the lower levels because of flooding but if the winds become very strong, it could take the roof off.
Living in Oklahoma, I'm very familiar with tornadoes and this seems a lot like a tornado. The best place to be regarding tornadoes is completely out of the path of the tornado.
If the winds become very strong, there's no telling what could happen to that building!

Carol interrupted, and he said "IF YOU WOULD JUST LET ME TALK!" and threw his papers down. He then tried to make it look like he was joshing. But I don't think he was.

plus, for all we know, he might have loved ones in the area. I think it's safe to assume that he's been working overtime at this point and I don't know about you, but one of MY biggest pet peeves is being interrupted. Teleprompter readers have probably been interrupting him all day.

18. I'm not sure if "humor" is the right word... |
|
...but, for me, there was a certain enjoyment at seeing Myers drop the "Happy Talk McNews" demeanor standard on television news programs, and react the way I would if I was trying to convey important information and got cut off.
It's like the newsborgs are human after all.
And Myers definitely seems to be thinking about the human cost more than the news value of this storm -- witness his obvious anger at the decision to house people in the Superdome.

in news broadcasting. You are supposed to remain clam in events like this so as to not panic viewers. He should apologize for losing his cool at the very least. I think your calling the other poster "stoic" is a bit over the top too.

Gah - I had switched to MSNBC just before that happened :(
I wonder if somebody will post video. I love seeing these plastic talking heads lose it on TV.
Anyone ever see the SNL skit "Wake Up And Smile", where the Morning show people lose their teleprompter and end up turning primitive and eating each other as a result?

|
I turned to CNN and there were two. One is a thin faced man wearing glasses...I turned to MSNBC and he was being interviewed there as well. Is he with the nat'l weather service or something?
It's possible that the weather guy who got angry doesn't work for CNN and refused to put up with their bullshit. Would you want to be interupted on national television while trying to do your job? I wouldn't.

the difference between Novak and this guy is that Novak dug his own grave and, for political reasons, i admit in 'dancing on his grave' a bit. this guy is guilty for showing signs of stress on the job and we don't know the whole story.
let's have some perspective.
