Fox online gets Katrina coverage WRONG.
Yeah, I know. What do you really expect from FOX? But this is so far off it is pathetic.

From http://www.foxnews.com/ at 6:25 AM today.

"Eye of monstrous Category 4 hurricane with 110 mph winds slams into U.S. coast 150 miles east of New Orleans; massive flooding, damage expected in next few hours."

A CAT 4 has winds well of over 131 mph, not 110. 110 is a CAT 2.

And 150 miles east of N.O. is Mobile, AL. They are saying the eye is already in Mobile, AL?? Can't they even get something as simple as a storm size/location right? Well, I guess the question answers itself.

As I am looking at live radar, the eye is over the mouth of the Mississippi. The track does seem to have shifted to a NNE direction, but that could well be just a wobble. The eye is enlarging, but I don't know what that means. I am guessing that it means the storm is becoming less organized. That would be expected as much of the storm is now over land and is not able to feed off the warm gulf water.

If it keeps to this path, the worst of the storm will hit in the Gulfport/Biloxi MS area.

1. actually..
Katrina is a strong CAT4 hurricane, making landfall at Grand Isle, LA with 150mph winds. It has veered slightly east, meaning that the brunt of the storm will hit the Mississippi coast not NOLA, though I'm sure that NOLA will still get very strong winds and a horrible storm surge.

3. Correct, that's what I saw on local news (CBS and ABC) about
...an hour ago. As for Faux News, they must be tracking a different storm from the hurricane archives or something:shrug:

2. They have a correction up now.
Now saying:

"Eye of monstrous Category 4 hurricane packing 145-mph winds slams into U.S. coast 60 miles south of New Orleans; massive flooding, damage expected in next few hours"

5. The only explanation is that FOX News are compulsive liars.
They can't tell the truth. It's a sickness.

6. Earlier yesterday some CNN wench (I was listening not watching)
Edited on Mon Aug-29-05 06:55 AM by hlthe2b
was talking to a local official from Sidell and ending by saying that residents should immediately evacuate "inland," given the emergency order. The official corrected her, saying "no, I said NORTH, not inland!" (and tried to explain that the entire area was below sea level).

She ended very indignantly by saying "well, isn't that what I said?" (Obviously still not having a clue...but wanting to leave the impression that these stupid rednecks don't know what they are talking about....):eyes:

What stupid shits they hire for cable news......
