Jeez, our fake President didn't even plug the phone in!

Look at this pic from W's photo op yesterday of him trying to look presidential.

Look at the phone. That is an old fashioned corded phone. Yet it appears to not be plugged into anything? This is supposed to be Bush's high tech bunker in Crawford and all he got is a plasm TV with the Weather Channel and a phone that they can't even bother to plug in? Unbelievable.

(Kudos to coffeenap for noticing)

That way you don't get cords going across the floor. You can see what I think is part of this hole just t the top right of the phone, by its dinky little LCD screen.

6. Could be wired down to a port in the floor through hole in the table

it looks as though there might be a gasket in the top at the other end.

Also could be a wireless handset using WiFi or Bluetooth.

However, he can still be a dumbass never-the-less.

If it did go through the port on the desk you would see the cord running across the desk. There is no cord from the white phone so I think we can assume that there is no cord going out from the black phone either.

I've seen many conference phones with a stretch-cord to a hand-set where the entire phone is wireless.

There are many wireless technologies that can accomplish this:

Bluetooth
802.11 (a,b,g and e)
Cellular

Northzax (and others) are right, the conference rooms I'm in on a regular basis hide ALL the cords through the middle of the table.

Plenty of things to complain about, but this particular "scandal" is just a colossal waste of time.

29. Not to bust a bubble here
But that looks like a secure phone--you key it up, and it scrambles your conversations. You can also use them in nonsecure mode.

See that little blob at the end of the table? That might be a hole to run cable, and I am betting that there is one at the other end that supports that phone as well.

The boyking can never look presidential, because he stole the last two elections, and you cannot BE what you have not EARNED, but the poor bastards (many military) who are tasked to support him no doubt hooked up his secure phone properly.

The challenge for him is figuring out which end to talk into, I guess.

37. You do not know that unless you have xray vision
The cabling, which is very thick, is at the back of the phone. The phone likely is resting on the hole where the cable runs.

You can also see that the screen on the monitor is in use; chimpy is no doubt using the hands-free mode to stammer, er, talk. I have used this sort of system and, while his is certainly nicer than the ones I've had experience with, it is the same setup.

I think he is an ass, but I do not think his military communications team consists of a bunch of Potemkin bozos.

Pictures of his Crawford Office don't indicate that it is a working office. There is no computer, file cabinets or bookcases. It's just a desk with a pen set on it. I don't remember seeing a phone in that office. Oh yeah, he does have a TV there too.

36. how can you tell?
from my perspective it looks as if the chord would be running into the black fixture to the right of the phone next to the blue and orange colored paper. it would appear to me that the chord would be hidden by the phone itself if it was running into this hole/fixture.

also, if you could see the text on the phone display that would verify that it was plugged in as it would need power (from phone cable) to be "on".

i'm sure they have a guy whose job is to plug phones in, this is silly.

You're showing a cordless set that goes with the larger set. The larger set HAS to be plugged in to at least a wall socket. Doesn't run on solar.
