Poor, homeless, frail flock to the safety of Superdome
Did we write safe? Our bad. Still, surely you don't expect Market Economy USA to do anything more for economic outcasts, do you? Wouldn't be prudent. Would hamper market forces and interfere with our march to utopia.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — For thousands of this city's poor, homeless and frail, just getting into the massive Louisiana Superdome and hunkering down was the hardest part.

Both residents and the homeless of New Orleans line up for refuge from Hurricane Katrina at the Superdome.

The sickest among them didn't flee the 160-mph wrath of Hurricane Katrina on Sunday as much as they hobbled to safety on crutches, canes and on stretchers. Others lined up for blocks, clutching meager belongings and crying children as National Guardsman searched them for guns, knives and drugs.

"We just took the necessities," said Michael Skipper, who pulled a wagon loaded with bags of clothes and a radio. "The good stuff — the television and the furniture — you just have to hope something's there when you get back. If it's not, you just start over."

1. They aren't safe. That roof is damaged and rain is entering the
stadium. :(

2. And Landrieu, who has a D after her name, was
just on CNN looking like a headmaster with wayward students who "failed to heed the warning" to get out of town. Is she really that clueless?

3. Some just cannot comprehend what it means to be poor.
"Let them eat cake" is the emblematic quote, so separated from the realities it makes 'governance' a cruel joke.

4. I heard her little lecture also.
It really irritated me. How many of those people who "didn't listen" would have loved to have followed the suggestion to evacuate, but didn't have the means? I thought it was a really low, thoughtless comment also. What the hell were they supposed to do, walk out of the city?

11. I didn't hear it
But you should absolutely drop her a line and tell her exactly what you just said. I guess it's hard for people who have no worries to believe that there are people who struggle so terribly that they barely have the means to feed themselves in the good old US of A.

5. Based on a lot of her votes, yes, she is really that clueless.
She's another Lieberman type.

6. Landrieu was a f*cking assh*le...
I guess she just figured all those people should have got in their Hummers and driven to their vacation homes in Florida. :sarcasm:

I'm ashamed to belong to the same party as a callous jerk like that. The Democratic symbol may be a donkey, but DINO Mary is just a jackass.

:spank:

9. She said people should go to their vacation homes? WTF?
I guess we shouldn't be surprised, she did vote for the bankruptcy legislation and has voted Republican on several other issues. Yes, she IS a DINO.

Her punitive attitude towards the poor is revealing. Sickening.

should save that footage of her.

16. Ummm....do you have someone in mind.?
I can't think of one that is situated to make a run against her. Also, remember, Louisiana does not have a primary system.
