Today Is Not The Day For Partisanship
Today, we are not red staters or blue staters. Today, we are all very concerned Americans. We are all worried and praying for our fellow Americans in the path of that storm. We also know that when this storm passes, the real hard work will begin.

Wouldn't it wonderful if all of the political blog sites, FreeRepublic, DU, Bartcop, Drudgereport, etc., were to come together and fund raise for the relief effort in Lousianna and throughout the states hit by this hurricane. What a terrific sign of our humanity.

We need to come together as Americans to help our fellow Americans hit by this storm. We have to help these people rebuild their lives and rebuild their city.

2. People will help .. but not in harmony together with those groups
that won't happen. Personally, I don't trust them to put my money in a pot with theirs. Sad, but it's reality.

3. Hmmm? That would be nice.
But if the RWers can say of the soldiers killed in Iraq, "they volunteered," then I guess they could say of anyone in Katrina's path, "they chose to live there."

The partisanship will never end. * has seen to that for the forseeable future.

9. please consider this-
if YOU base your 'actions' on the 'actions' of those who you see as being wrong- by doing the same thing as 'they' do in response- then THEY have won a 'convert'- albiet a 'negative' one- but one who uses their logic none the less.

Please think about that-

No- condemnation- i have done it myself- too often- but the light went on.

If it's wrong, it is WRONG no matter who is doing it. or why.

BE who you know you are, for reasons you truly support- ACT for yourself, not in "re" action to those who seek to control you.

peace.

If it is only a handful of 'us' * will never win, as long as we do not become that which we believe is wrong.

4. Come together right now...
Over me.

but seriously and sadly the politics will never go away but we don't have to come together to perform good deeds we can do it as individuals, as americans, as humans.

5. But it isn't reality
Yes it would be wonderful if we could all come together, but reality is a bitch.

The Freepers don't consider us to be Americans, fellow or otherwise.

Let's concern ourselves with what help the members of DU can provide,
and not what the other side may or may not do.

10. don't look at what the freepers are doing!!! don't look at what
ANYONE is doing- do what you KNOW is 'right'- what YOU would want done if you were in the path of Katrina- And side by side, together, we will BE the change- lets drop the labels and 'justifications'- lets indeed COME TOGETHER as fellow travellers on this big blue marble.

11. if that is the only option you see,
you would choose to be the one doing the screwing???

oh, Kazak, you don't know how sad i feel for you if that is really true-
and you can screw me to the wall- and through it, before i'd choose to become what i believe is wrong, just to what?... survive? count me out of that-

i will die rather than become someone who can't live with themself.

think about it-
PLEASE!!!
i believe better for you.

18. if that is true
are you not living in slavery to them?

Are you FREE?

It's awfully hard to reach out to anyone when your hands are full of weapons and shields,- and it's awfully lonely behind all the 'armor'

i'll die reaching- DNR and living will saying i choose to live fully- or cease to exist-

But that's your call- not mine. Just sad to see that choice for you Kazak- and although you can decide to hate me or reject me for reaching out- i'll risk that- because i honestly DO care- and not just about 'my own' but everyone. Life is hard enough.

i wish you only the best.

7. The type of unity you are suggesting
Should start with our non-partisan leader who is too busy schilling for the drug companies today to be the "uniter" he promised.

8. The power of a hurricane makes human concerns feel very small.
I've been through a couple--in safe buildings, far from any threat of storm surge. But I knew I was totally at Mother Nature's mercy & she was in a really bad mood. Tornadoes, earthquakes & big blizzards teach the same lesson to other parts of the country.

The aftermath will be a real mess. Some deaths, much destruction. But even those who survive relatively untouched will face weeks or months of no power, unsafe water & not much food. And no jobs for many--restaurant workers, etc.

12. we are them, and they are us-
do what we do, with that in mind-

Are we a part of HumanKIND? or not? The dividing lines between us are MADE by us- and only we, as individuals can choose to breach the levees that we've built.
Time to look through them- and reach through them- for ALL our good
Thanks Yavin4

14. Take a deep, deep breath and make no judgements at this time
It's about humanity, not politics...as much as we are all so emotional about our beliefs. Sometimes, standing back and focusing on helping opens the door to understanding and acceptance.

This comes from a raving lunatic who likes nothing better than a good flame war.

16. Liberals Care About People First
That's what is at the very core of our identity. We care about people, even people who don't like us nor agree with us. Face it, we are the "Mommy" party, and we are supposed to take care of the injured and hurt.

My suggestion is for the political blogs sites to come together can still work if we can agree on the charities that should get the money. There will be official charities set up to help the victims of this hurricane.

20. but we're
still here eh?

If we'd used 'their' tactics, perhaps we would have been exterminated by now. The people are gurmbling, the masses are stretching and waking up.
The Clinton years lulled many folks to complacency- adversity is where we find out who we really are- And what truly 'drives' us.

speak softly- but speak big truths.

21. If anything, this is the day to be more partisan than ever.
The rethugs' partisanship is how New Orleans' disaster management and relief programs were eviscerated.

22. I believe that bringing out..
the facts of Bush's cuts in FEMA and the Guard not being there to help in the aftermath is not partisanship. It needs to be addressed!
