Info on Mobile please
A friend foolishly decided to stay behind. I just spoke with another friend who spoke with her at around 9:30. Cell phones and land lines are down now.
She said that the winds were howling and she could hear the rain pelting the roof.
My friend was very scared. She is trapped with her sister in law and their children.
Can anyone tell me what is going on in Mobile right now or direct me to a source to find out?

2. Causeway under water, reports of 4' of water in downtown Mobile.

They showed video of the causeway: it's totally under water. :(
This just in (WDSU) Highway 90 in MS (Gulfport/Biloxi has been destroyed - it's totally gone.) Gov. Haley Barbour announced this news.
This is a NO station broadcasting live online:

edit: I hope your friends are OK. My husbands family lives in Lacombe and Slidell and NO. The hurricane passed over but the chances of flooding will go on all day. His sister's expecting her home to flood. :(

4. Spoke to my folks in Baldwin County (Mobile Bay)
They had branches down, but still had electricity. The storm surge pushed up the bay and covered the causeway (and presumably into Mobile).

Hope your friend is safe and dry.
