Anyone else hear 'The Connection' on NPR today?
Edited on Wed Oct-01-03 05:59 PM by dweller
I was on the road for a bit today, and tuned in to NPR, The Connection and listened to a fairly interesting show on the latest issue in Washington.
no transcript, but you can listen in here: Anatomy of a Leak
http://www.theconnection.org/shows/2003/10/20031001_a_main.asp

guests include: Daniel Ellsberg, author,
"Secrets: A Memoir of
Vietnam and the
Pentagon Papers

Scott Armstrong, former
senior investigator,
Senate Watergate
Committee and founder,
National Security Archive

Ted Gup, author, "The
Book of Honor: Covert
Lives and Classified
Deaths at the CIA"

intro: Washington has always loved a
little blood in the water. But if the
capitol's appetite for scandal is
famously healthy, it's ability to
metabolize rumor into ruin lags.
The Pentagon Papers, Iran
Contra, even MonicaGate, all
started with a leak or a lie or
some bit of drudged up innuendo,
and then dragged on as
independent counsels and criminal
investigations ran their course.

So it's not that surprising that it
took three-months for news about
a White House leak about the wife
of a former ambassador to make
headlines. Except for the fact that
the information was classified, the
woman is an undercover CIA
agent, and the ambassador
happens to be an outspoken critic
of the Bush administration's war in
Iraq. From leak to scandal.
Deconstructing a Washington Whodunit.

----------
i didn't see a thread on this, but to be honest, i'm kinda tired and didn't look but so long. Got caught up in the mess on the DU vote
(depressing, seeing that),
but in my op, the show above was really informative. It sounds like another Watergate but times ten is coming, or else the secrecy in the WH is going to become much more sinister and well, even more secretive.

sorry if this is a dupe,

peace,
dp

edit: :Daniel Ellsberg? :D
