My sister is on Elmwood Parkway between W. Esplenade and the lake in Metairie. No power but landline phone still working. She says there is water in the street but it has not gotten quite high enough to get in the house - by a couple of inches. Water seems to be holding steady ot barely rising, hard to tell. Many trees down. Siding and roofing peeled from many houses. No water from the tap.

Please tell Karen Swenson that Norman Mccord is
going to Oak Harbor later tonight to access the damage. I will have him look at your house as well. I have a feeling it is not good.

GENTILLY TERRACE--my husband is on the 4700 block of spain st in gentilly terrace. a few hours ago the water was 8 inches from coming into our raised house. as of an hour ago, it was slowly rising..about 2 inches from coming into the house. he said there are power lines down all over the place.

I have heard from family who stayed in Metairie (near Bonnebell and I-10) that the major damage has been from the winds, a lot of trees are down completely blocking streets and many roof tops damaged. No severe flooding at their specific location - there was water in the street, but that isn't to say that the water has not continued to rise since my last contact with them.
The following are reports from people whom I have been able to contact that have had to stay in the city because of job requirements: I did hear of some levee breaks (not confirmed) causing Lakeview and areas near East Jefferson Hospital to flood, there is some water on the 1st floor of EJGH. Lakeview has been reported to have 6 ft of water in some areas. Veterans near I-10 (Celebration Station) is completly underwater.
Chalmette has people stranded on rooftops, their homes completely submerged. Bay St. Louis/Slidell has reports of 15 ft of water in some areas.
I have heard that in Metairie, between W. Esplanade and the lake that only roofs of houses are visible. Can anyone confirm??? This is an area where many of my family live. Also, I am near David Dr. and W. Metairie, any news on conditions there? Thanks! And I will be praying for us all.

Charity is okay! I have a colleague who stayed to help staff emergencies. He has been able to text message me with an image from one of the catwalks, with moderate flooding below, as well as many comments on his status. He is fine and they are operational. I hope this is helpful.

Looking DESPARATELY for information on my husband.....he is a sergeant with the State Police in Slidell.....when I last spoke with him he was taking refuge at the Louisiana Heart Hospital in Lacombe....any information about damages in that area would comfort me greatly....I don't care about my house in Slidell, I just need to know he is safe. Thank you for helping.

Last I heard St. Tammany Parish is closed. I fled Slidell with my 9 month old son and mother-in-law. My husband and his dad stayed behind. Dad works for sheriffs dept. and we are unable to get in touch with anyone at all. I know that parts of the city are flooded ( I was told downtown) but I don't know if they mean Olde Town or the business area. My aunt has been on the internet all day at work trying to find out what is going on there. If I hear anything else, I will post, and please, if anyone else hears anything, please get in touch. Thank You.

To WWLTV
I live in Kenner off Loyola Drive. We left 11:30 am yesterday and it took us 12 hours to get to DeRidder, LA. We took 310 to 90 and 90 to I 10 in Lafayette. Then hwy 26 tro DeRidder. I have been following the news all morning and watching CNN, weather channel and CBS and NBC news but I found no pictures of Kenner and only one shot of Metairie on I 10 around Transcontinental and Veterans crossing. Please post any pictures you have of Kenner.
