MSM consistently underestimating # of people in Superdome. |
|
I keep hearing them say 8,000 or 9,000 but I just listened to the mayor speak on WWL and he's saying 20,000. He MUST be right. He's the Mayor! Why the heck can't they get even such a basic thing right! Even "Countdown" got it wrong. :(

1. I noticed this all day today |
|
Every channel had a different number. You think they'd have it figured out by now!

5. Yes! I had forgotten about that! |

Every person that went through the door was checked for weapons and whatever else. They couldn't have kept some kind of a count?

... NPR was saying 25-28,000, most poor and with no way to get out of the city.
That number doesn't surprise me, from my visits there. Plenty of poor people without transportation.

6. mostly black, handicapped, or old.......'those people all look alike, |
|
so how can we tell them apart long enough to count them accurately?'
<sarcasm>
and the higher the number the more 'those people' will want from the federal government

the Col in charge of the Natl Guard -- which was in charge of security and searches, said that 20-25k was the number.
Given that Nagin is on the ground and is in contact with just about everyone, I'll go with his number rather than some dipshit from CNN.

9. CBC reported 26,000 in the Superdome yesterday |
|
and 9,000 today so it's not just the US media And the mayor's saying 20,000? I agree with another poster it's unusual that there wouldn't be a firm number it took so long to process everyone going in

10. It wouldn't have been hard to count |
|
After all, there are turnstiles there. It was odd that such a basic fact was all over the map on the news.
