Our pResident has been advised not to go visit LA and MS
to see the storm damage, as per Faux Snooze.

Would it interfere too much with that life he is trying to get on with?

Is it just too much to ask for him to take time off from his vacation?

Seems like a little helicopter trip isn't too much to ask. :eyes:

It's OK when Americans die and face hardships - as long as he is safe.

I don't expect a single remotely human reaction from Bush. Not sure why anyone does. I certainly don't expect him to behave as a leader.

And you actually get people who defend lawmakers and presidents securing their own asses before the people's needs are met.

He needs to be in DC to make decisions and issue orders. The shit head is partying and eating cake instead. That is called Dereliction of Duty. It is time for Bush to step down and for Cheney to take control. Since no one can find Cheney either, then whoever is next in line Hastert(?) needs to step up. This is ridiculous.

39. The president can not get to the Gulf Coast!
Both New Orleans airports are underwatet,,, The logisitics of getting him andthe appropriate collatteral in place even for a short visit would be daunting.

What is he going to do? A bly-by in AF One. ALl the helicoptes in the tri-state region are need for emergency details,

He needs to adress the nation to be sure,,,but there is nnothing that he can do by doing a visit. except piss local residents off from taking awaay emergency personnel from all they are contending with.

The president can not go to New Orleans and even if he could he shouldn't

To think that the prseident needd to put in a cameo really needs to be thought through before we blather the insensitivity of Mr. Putz.

50. iF HE IS DOING FUNDRAISERS HE SHOULD BE BOILED IN OIL.
Rove souled pull the plug on that I would think.

Marine One probably has about 320 miles of fuel in it. that is not enought to do a visual inspection from the air.

THink about it.. they would have to figut out where to land. The governor ans state police and whomever else would have to mett them where they land. that means another helicopeter or two

The value in a presienttial visit is the ressurance that it brings. but that value is dimisished significantly because there is no power for people to watch on TV.

He should not ignore it. He should prbably go back to the whitehouse and adress the nation... But the lasthing he whould want to do is take away valuable time from anyone on the ground.

53. Leaders lead from the front....not in the rear with the gear....
...but then again, Herr Busch is NOT a leader, is he?

And no, showing his lying, cowardly butt at the scene of a disaster is not taking away "valuable time from anyone on the ground". This kind of effort is supposed to improve morale of those affected by the disaster, and a chance to show what kind of assistance can be brought to bear from the "leader of the free world".

IMHO, you're on the wrong board if you want to defend Herr Busch.

51. I don't guess you don't know that he has at least three helicoptors....
...for his use along with Air Force One and Air Force Two. Herr Busch can get into any area of the world that he wishes to go...but he's got to be willing to go.

And yes, if he believes that he's the leader of the country, he needs to show his lying, cowardly butt at EVERY disaster area, and he should be attending EVERY funeral of the people he's sent off to their deaths in the Middle East.

As far as the logistics are concerned, flying into any nearby air base (USAF or National Guard) with Air Force One would be the first step in the process. The next step would be to take one of his helicoptors into the affected area.

Most dictators have VERY little interest in the people they govern other than the taxes they pay, and their willingness to serve in the military. Why should Herr Busch be any different?
