CNN: Man jumped to his death inside Superdome
Just reported on CNN by reporter on the scene. Seemed to be behaving normally, then clamly walked to the edge of the upper deck and jumped.

3. Not sure. But they said things are getting worse inside:
tension, the wounded are being brought in, it's hot, toilets backing up.

2. Kick
I had posted about the same story and asked the mod to delete my post because it was a dupe.

Here's what mine said:

A lady commentator was on talking about how terrible the conditions are becoming in the Superdome. She said the toilets are overflowing and they are bringing sick and injured patients there. Then she said that a man had been playing Dominoes and then quietly got up and told the people below him to watch out and he jumped to his death.

This is just too sad for words.

4. Can you imagine the despair these people must be feeling?
Most in the dome were poor to start with, and now what will the future hold for them?

5. Mayor said 20,000 in the Superdome.
Don't know if that was accurate. I'm listening to the mayor here:

http://www.wwltv.com/perl/common/video/wmPlayer.pl?title=www.wwltv.com/082905mayor.wmv

He said the people inside are isolated. (I think he meant isolated in a Skinner box sense.) They were cut off from the outside, it was hot, etc. He said letting them out for fresh air seemed to decrease some of the tension.

As far as I know, the water levels are still rising, there is oil in the water, and the mayor said there are gas leaks even under the water, and those underwater gas leaks send flames shooting up from the water.

I suspect those people will be kept in the Superdome for quite a while.

6. The CNN reporter said the highway exit ramp leading to
the dome is underwater and that "this area is surrounded by water."

I think the dome is literally isolated, save for communication devices and impossibly slow potential boat/chopper evacuations.
