Now here's something to ponder |
|
We've just broadcast to the entire world how truly unprepared we are for any kind of major emergency or catastrophe.
So much for all the Bushreich hype about being prepared -- all the money being poured into "Homeland Security" and laws like the Patriot Act aren't going to save anyone from the very real dangers right here at home -- especially when Bush cut funding for disaster preparedness and so many of our Nat'l Guard are in Iraq!

3. Yes -- in more ways than one |
|
Not only are we totally unprepared for a major catastrophe, our oil and gas industry is incredibly vulnerable. We just failed the test, folks.
The scary thing is, I'm sure there are plenty of people out there taking notes. I only wish it was our own government.

4. and now the Pentagon is stepping in |
|
This reeks that they know that this was a collossal failure and that we are now vulnerable at one of the most important ports of call in our country. The information will not be as forthcoming as it is now and they will say it is in the interest of National Security.

And I think you are right about the clampdown of info once the Pentagon becomes involved. Then this becomes a "national security" matter not a humanitarian relief effort.

For all their greed and dependence on oil and ruining countries over oil......The oil is bursting everywhere...Too bad the rest of america is punished too, at our own expense.

8. the whole "Homeland Security" fiasco is just porkbarrel projects |
|
If they were really interested in security they'd have walled off all the borders and strictly controlled border crossings along those lines. And similarly, they would have never cut funding for the Army Corps of Engineers. Rebuilding is necessary in the wake of attacks and to rapidly set up various structures e.g. building enclosures around riots or invading forces pinned by arms fire.
