President Nero
Emperor Nero - an evil madman if there ever was one - fiddled while Rome burned.

And today Chimperor Bush is fiddling - well, actually strumming his guitar - while Americans are flooded out of New Orleans, while American soldiers are dying in Iraq, while oil prices climb higher and higher with no end in sight, while corporate executives loot their companies by drawing huge salaries while laying off tens of thousands of American workers.

President Nero is golfing and strumming and having fun while people are spending their second day on rooftops in New Orleans, while hospitals there are performing surgery with minimal anesthesia, while thousands of homes and businesses have been smashed to ruins.

I wonder if Bush is the reincarnation of Emperor Nero. He shows the same callous disdain for the suffering of poor and middle-class Americans that Nero did for the average people of rome.

6. Post the cake pic with McCain too.
Some people here aren't aware of it, or are asking about it. Any gold pics from yesterday?

5. Dumbya on vacation

The Shadow of Air Force One passes over the beach in front of the historic Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, Calif., Monday, Aug. 29, 2005. Bush spent the evening at the hotel and attended a ceremony commemorating the 60th anniversary of V-J day (while people drowned in New Orleans).

President Bush plays a guitar presented to him by Country Singer Mark Wills (while bodies float in Mississippi).

U.S. President George W. Bush smiles during a town hall-style meeting at a retirement community in El Mirage, Arizona (Just like he did when he cut FEMA funding)

11. Isn't that the most sickening photo-op?
Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 05:20 PM by LiberalEsto
I'm sure he and Rover are trying to shore up Nero's sinking poll numbers by trying to emulate the image of Bill Clinton playing the saxophone. At least Clinton could actually PLAY.

I doubt President Nero can actually play a guitar any better than he can eat a pretzel or ride a Segway.

edited for typos

14. Nero's last words : "What an artist the world is losing in me!"
Sounds like he had more in common with Dumbya than I thought - total psychopaths.

17. Well, didn't the FEMA budget get slashed?
Thought I heard something about that. And wouldn't it help to have a few thousand more National Guardsmen - who are now stuck in Iraq?

True, Little Nero can't start a major fire or a hurricane (I bet he can't even light a fart) but I think matters might be a wee bit better in New Orleans if FEMA had more resources, if more National Guardsmen were in Louisiana, and if he himself were to show a bit more leadership and a bit fewer photo-ops.
