Harvey Jackson
Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 05:58 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
Harvey Jackson is the man who lost his wife in the storm and has been "featured" on CNN....

He said he lost his wife and lost "everything"....

It was heartbreaking...

It would be nice to set up a Harvey Jasckson fund for him and people like him.....

on edit- I am aware there are multiple charities but he seems emblematic of this whole disaster....

1. Don't remember which network it was
I've been flipping back and forth between MSNBC and CNN. Anyway, the anchor said that people as far away as Great Britain have emailed and called to help Harvey Jackson but no one knows how to contact him.

2. It Was Sad....
He probably now has no wife, no job, and no home....

I donated to the Red Cross but I'd like to do more...

5. He's in Mississippi.
It was just on PBS. I think they were reporting from Gulfport, but I'm not sure.

3. CNN is receiving offers from all over to help him and his family.
But they don't know where he is now. I hope they can find him again. And, you're right, a fund would be good. Additionally, the Red Cross could use help--money and blood.

4. He Needs To Know How People Feel His Grief...

That might not be much of a salve but every little bit helps...

6. I will never, ever forget this man. And yes, it was heartbreaking.
Even the reporter was crying when interviewing him.

7. I Had A Friend Who Lived Through Andrew
and witnessed folks who lost everything and walked around in a daze but I don't think she ever witnessed anything like Harvey Jackson....

As a Floridian I know lots of people who lost their homes but fortunately not anyone who lost a loved one...

8. Honestly, this is one of the reasons why I have no desire to move down to
Florida. I couldn't live with the possibility of, hanging over me.
