Quick reminder: Parish = County |

Louisiana calls its counties parishes. I don't know why--perhaps it goes along with the fact that Louisiana modeled its state law on French common law, not English common law like the other 49 members of the United States of America did.
We'll see the word "parish" used repeatedly in the next few weeks, and I don't want anyone worrying that the fundies turned Louisiana into a theocracy. They've always called their counties parishes.
