Remember the heathens of Banda Aceh?
As the scale of the catastrophe on our Gulf coast unfolds, does anyone remember the self-styled "Christians" who said that the tsunami was God's way of wiping out the nonbelievers in that part of the world? I sincerely hope that what just happened to this country is the end of that kind of disgusting stupidity.

1. Thing is, though, in Banda Aceh, the MOSQUE still stood.
one of the few buildings to do so.

2. They'll find a way to twist it to their own meaning.
All those Catholics and their sinful mardi gras needs to be punished. Something to that effect.

3. Okay...
Then explain how the good, God-fearin' people of Gulfport, Biloxi, and Mobile (and surrounding areas) got hit just as hard, if not worse?

4. Thanks for the reminder. We need to stand by for the next pronouncements
from Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, and the arrival of Fred Phelps to condemn New Orleans.

5. 226.000 dead, last I heard.
That's 226thousand

granted, we are affected more by events close to home and the media coverage on Katrina is intense, but still.

7. Sure, this is on home ground
but the tsunami killed a thousand for every one lost to Katrina.
