Anarchy has been in Crawford - representing those of us DU'ers who haven't been able to get there - and now needs some support.

Anarchy's post to SwampRat: Dearest, I am in a panic. I'm so sorry. My eternal optomist friend and mentor was born and raised in Metarie. I know they all left for Birmingham on Sunday. I can't find them.

She is a hero. She has worked tirelessly for the Crawford Peace House for 3 weeks. She deserves a tremendous round of applause.

Instead, a creep who derives great joy out of tormenting activists on DU chose to go after her last night and call her a liar about how funds Cindy collected had been spent, a tactic very reminiscent of the way Andy's fundraiser was attacked, and probably by the same persons. Anarchy took offense as she had every right to do.

Time for people to be aware of what is going on.

29. I have a friend in Metairie also. I cannot reach her, and will not

travel to NOLA and hinder search and rescue. BUT, I refuse to submit to SCUMBAG'S "fear and terra" doctrine. Until I receive information to the contrary, I shall believe that my friend and her family are safe and are concerned about the flight from LA, their family, and their home. I shall give them some time to be caught up in "What happened?" "What will we do now?" "How will we cope?" "We can't afford this?" Then when she settles down and sees that her family is fine, the sun is shining and all else is inconsequential, I shall either hear from her or one of our mutual friends.

The flight from your home and the possible destruction of your life is daunting. Been there, done that.

Perhaps the worst thing that the Bush regime has done is to damage this country's sense of optimism, our finest quality as a nation. They have done this in so many ways, but the one that got to me the most occurred on Nov. 2, 2004, when ordinary voters and the most amazing grass roots campaign this country has ever seen rose up and threw the Bush Cartel out of office--only to have this incredible victory stolen from us by stealth, through the secret, proprietary programming code in Bush Cartel-controlled electronic vote tabulators, and by the blatant violations of the Voting Rights Act in Ohio that were necessary to supplement that stealthy theft (the measure of our victory!). I have never seen or felt anything so disheartening. And what is worse, I now know that the Democratic Party made that theft possible, by the venal corruption of state/local election officials in what has become the billion dollar business of electronic voting, and by our own party leaders who support Bush's war and DIDN'T WANT a president who was in beholden to the antiwar majority of the country.

This reality is so crushing that most Americans are in denial about it. Personally, I have recovered--through my activism on the election fraud issue and election system reform--but most Americans have not recovered, and are suffering from the subconscious depression that comes from disempowerment and DISENFRANCHISEMENT. The election reform remedy is simple--and doable--but there is not enough consciousness yet to get it done. It's growing, though.

What you have done, Anarchy, is to express the will of the majority in a time when people don't even yet realize what the will of the majority has always been--overwhelmingly against this war, and all unjust war, and also overwhelmingly in favor of justice, fairness, tolerance and lawfulness. You have given people hope. You have helped them not feel alone and isolated (as the war profiteering corporate news monopolies would have them feel). If you do nothing else for the American people in your lifetime, you and Camp Casey will have earned the Nobel Prize for Peace, for awakening the sleeping giant of American democracy. And we WILL get our country back, and we WILL see a peace and justice-loving government that is responsive to the will of the people once again, because of you.

Know this, and rest well.
