How are the lower income and no income people going to begin again?

i've been watching all day and have donated but i keep seeing these images of lower income people that have lost everything, will they be helped?

anymore when the new law goes into effect. so what about all thos small business and medium businesses....no bankruptcy for them either.

I can't help but ask myself: are we doing all that we can for the least among us?

Many people affected by this hurricane will have a difficult time rebuilding their lives. But it will be especially hard for those who had nothing to begin with.

I think we must treat this as our tsunami. There was such an outpouring of aid, assistance and the like after the tsunami. We have to do the same thing here.

And there needs to be a focus on immediacy. There are a lot of things people will need in the immediate future just to survive: i.e. food, clean water, etc.

And after we take care of the immediate needs, we need to focus on the long-term rebuilding of lives.

10. If you have no income, the bankrupcy laws are pretty much the same

as before. Obviously these people have to jobs either. Another group is the middle class. Watch the insurance companies collapse. A lot of people who thought they were covered won't be. Then watch how long it takes to get checks. People here in Florida are stilol waiting after last year. We still have people living in hotels. Some even in mobile homes they shouldn't even be in. What happened in NO and MS & Ala is beyond comprehension.

As for starting over - I haven't a clue. Unemployment for awhile. SOme should be able to get disability. I haven't a clue.

11. FEMA

My husband worked as a contractor for FEMA disasters and they assess the damage and write them a check. It has to be a disaster declared by the President in order for them to receive these funds. There is help, but right now the inspectors can't even get in there because of the flooding.
