God Bless Governor Blanco. . .
Now ya know, I don't know much about this woman (I'm only guessing she's a Democrat, even) but I am so touched by the way she has put herself on the line for everyone in this disaster. She was just talking about personally visiting the Superdome and parts of New Orleans. . .and how many people she spoke with and assessed how important it is to evacuate the Superdome SOON.

This is where the Federal Government MUST step in - we have over 20,000 people to relocate quickly. . .and adequate shelter to protect them.

Why can't these people, if there is one route out of the city, be transported to a military base in Texas or Arkansas? Or perhaps to that Pyramid in Memphis that isn't being used?

1. I think
that she's been doing a good job considering the circumstances. And yes, she is a democrat.

2. She was LT Gov before
So her role was mainly PR and stuff. Both her and the mayor are keeping their shit together when it's so easy to just start telling the world just how bad it is there. Keep the strong front for the camera and keep going. I wouldn't want to see Bobby Jindal on TV all day.

"I'm not a career politician, but I am a problem solver. I'm gonna fix everything overnight" blah - blah

4. she is a Democrat and a retired school teacher
she's wonderful. Louisiana had a tough race to get her in with all the fundies, but they prevailed:applause:

5. I was wondering that, too? Why not send convoys of buses...
... down there to get these people to safety. Cancel some school and send school buses; get Greyhound on the job; whatever. But get those people some place where they can be cared for.

7. Fingers are crossed that it'll be without incident.
(i.e. sufficient buses, no riot to get on the buses, perhaps towing some porto-johns, no frickin' disaster on a weakened bridge somewhere, etc.)

Thanks for the tip.
