Gas warning for midwest (IOWANS) 43 cent raise by morning
Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 10:26 PM by dejaboutique
My mom's secretary's husband is a firefighter and called her just 20 minutes ago and said he had inside info that a certain gas station in town (amaco BP) was raising 43 cents by 6a.m. The town I am speaking of is only a population of 8K in Iowa.

1. Not to nitpick, but
Is it 43 cents or .43 cents? I assume you don't mean the hike will be less than 1/2 cent, since that wouldn't really be newsworthy.

Why raise it 43 cents? Are there other stations in town?

5. Can you please provide more information...
I live in Iowa, and I do understand that news like this does travel through other the grapevine.

Especially in small towns, reliable information does come from your dog groomer's brothers' cousin!

I'm in Iowa and I'd love to know where this is--if you feel comfortable sharing!

I'm sure there are many others who would like to know.

Thanks for any info and for your post!

11. Wow!! Thanks for posting this!
I appreciate knowing about these prices, and you were RIGHT!

So, to all of the smartasses who responded with their sardonic wit--you can stick your tongue out at them! haha :)

Washington, Iowa. If I remember correctly from my college days, that is a small town near Iowa City, correct?

Again, I appreciate you sharing the info!

14. I'm FULLY sick of the smartasses on this website
nitpickers, smartasses, haters, all the rest. I was just trying to be nice. I have been surprised at the behavior of many people on this board during this disaster. Someone was jumping all over Bret Farve for pleaing for help for his hometown. They need all they can get.

8. I live in eastern Iowa, and was watching the local news at 10:00 -
the anchorman said that gas prices will "increase significantly in the very near future", for whatever that's worth...

9. Also an Iowan
In Cedar Rapids. This morning most stations had a 20 cent hike to 2.59. Saw one station as I left work at 2.99, I assume the others will follow suit (decided not to drive around and see).
