Bush's Handling of the Crisis is Historic
Historically horrible. I am a presidential history nut and I can not think of very many presidents, particularly in the modern era, that have performed so disasterously and acted so coldly when there is a national disaster of anything approaching this scale going on.

3. This was caused by Nature
He can't start of war with Nature or blame terrorists and whatnot so, in line with PNAC thinking, since the culprit cannot be used for advancing their political agenda, PNACers told shit for brains to lay low and act like nothing happened.

in a day or two, promising retaliation against IRAN for flooding New Orleans. Why IRAN? Because, and I'm quoting the secret Rove "Bush Katrina Sympathy speech" here: IRAN is acronym (sic) of RAIN.

26. I know anagrams, but this is Bush's speech, and the malapropisms
make it so folksy.

Didn't you hear that?

:sarcasm:

On edit: I really thought I'd succeeded in eliminating all hate from my life -- and then georgie & the fundies/neocons took office.

14. Eliminate hate??
Tried that...hasn't worked yet, 'cept for the utter dispair that's coming to the forefront and crowding it out. Can't believe how bad things are.

15. I hear you.
The Clinton years weren't perfect, but they were hopeful. I really and truly thought I could eliminate negativity and hate from my life, that there was a chance to eliminate them from the world.

Silly me.

I know better now and feel as you do.

16. his "getting on with his life" message was real unfortunate, b/c
that's how he's acting now.

he got on with his life
on the ranch for almost 5 weeks
until last night
in the cozy hotel in coronado
later today
he got on with his speech
comparing TWOT to WW2
did anyone salute?
then he got back
to the ranch
and will mosey
to DC
for an hour in the morning
before
his 2 hour
bike ride
before
the press conference
will anyone salute?

18. Reminiscent of My Pet Goat.....
....and yet he's still in office. Sometimes I visualize the whole cabal all sitting there in the Oval Office thinking they can't believe the public let's them get away with all this shit. I mean, really....what do they have to do to get kicked out?

They can be as bold, arrogant, greedy, corrupt, and incompetent as they want, and nothing really happens.

Low approval ratings mean squat at this point. In his five years in office, they've certainly accomplished everything the corporatocracy would have hoped for. Each new day in office is gravy...another corporate giveaway, another piece of legislation that concentrates wealth, another nail in the environmental coffin, another smear. They probably laugh that we all point out his 36% rating...the majority opinion against the war. Means nothing! What matters is the power and he's got it and we don't.

He and his enablers (large group of people and organizations) are beyond caring if we think his performance is historically horrible, cold, or incompetent. What matters most is dollars, power, election results, party, and more dollars.
