Lives are at stake and all of these posts about looting.
What's more important?

1. Rescuing those about to be drowned by the rising waters or

2. Sending in the NG to protect some junk at Walmart. All of this junk is going to be underwater very soon anyway.

1. Finally, someone said it
Consumer products being looted should be the least of our concern.

4. We've been saying that since the reports started.
But people keep starting looting posts, LOL.

It's all looting, all the time!

And I'll be at as many as I can, defending the right of a person to take spoiling food from a supermarket that won't be open for weeks. And diapers.

Should these people starve? Should babies go without diapers? I don't think anyone's advocating that.

Though, you never know.

2. That's because the "news" is talking about looting like it was Bennifer!
They go yeah yeah yeah, look at these nice pictures...and they're LOOTING! LOOTING, can you believe it! Oh the humanity!!

:grr:

I'd much rather hear about all those little MS towns that are under water. I'd rather hear about the "president" RUNNING! RUNNING right to California while the Gulf drowns!

the "looting" story.

Yes, it's wrong to steal. But in the grand scheme of things, right now, who cares? I really don;t give a damn if a couple of people make off with some IPOds and a couple of pairs of jeans.

If they are are hungry and need food they SHOULD take it. If they need water, they SHOULD take it.

8. Yeah...
I was thinking that tonight while watching nbc/abc/cbs tonight, why the hell are they focusing on that crap, when people are dying, getting rescued, and major cities are getting screwed big time, and in my mind, who the hell cares, if i had a store and had insurance on it, i wouldn't give a damn if anhyone stole anything, cause i would claim everything lost/destroyed anyways....who cares, it just material items, and as far as i see, most of the things are destroyed with the water damage and what nots, and on abc, i saw a guy picking up full cans of soda out of the water, and they called him a looter, damn, i call that a "smart" man, for finding sustanence.

9. The looting posts need to stop. The MSM tracks the blogs
And when they see thousands of looting posts, they will do more stories on it. We need to keep discussions about *'s funding cuts to disaster relief and lack of NG, due to his war, on the page!

If I see one more hell, fire and brimestone thread about looting, I'm going to fucking scream!

People are dead, dying, & starving as we speak.

11. I think the police and Nat. Guard 'get it' - by looking the other way
- most of these places will claim total loss anyway
- people cannot buy this stuff anywhere
- the food would spoil
- they need it for survival
- police are busier saving lives right now

14. it's garbage
How can it be called "looting" if ALL of it is headed to the landfill ? All of it.
It's garbage, people. Garbage. People need to examine this knee jerk reaction to pictures of looting. Why does it freak everyone out? Disturbs the false perception of law and order?

17. A A A A A U U U U G G G G H H H H !!!!!!!
I am getting reeeeeeally tired of hiding these damn threads!!!!

Since the subject seems to be so popular on DU, perhaps the looting obsessed people can start a separate 'Looting Forum' and leave the rest of us in peace.

Or perhaps DU can adopt a 'hide by keyword' feature?

Now...
