CLEVELAND - Two Cuyahoga County Board of Elections workers were indicted Tuesday on charges of misconduct, including unlawfully obtaining possession of ballots during the 2004 presidential election recount.

Rosie Grier and Kathleen Dreamer were indicted on six counts each, according to the Cuyahoga County prosecutor's office. The charges carry a maximum prison sentence of 18 months.

....

Grier and Dreamer were indicted on charges of failure to perform duties imposed upon them by law; misconduct of board of election employees; knowingly disobeying elections law; unlawfully obtaining possession of ballots/ballot boxes or pollbooks; and unlawfully opening or permitting the opening of a sealed package containing ballots.

1. Am I wrong in wanting to hang them?
I can't help but feel this is a deadlier crime than people or the law realize.

19. No, you're not...
...wrong at all. It's exactly what our founding fathers would've done with people like this, not out of spite or some twisted satisfaction derived from watching them hang, but because of the truly dire threat to the republic they represent. Their hanging would've been a very public example for all to heed. Tough justice, but effective. I say hang 'em high.

25. No. Stealing an election is TREASON against the country and its people.
Hanging may be too good. Maybe hang them near a nest of yellowjackets.

29. You are correct, it is treason against the country. n/t
Could conyers and kerry finally move together on this and start articles of impeachment plus numerous other charges?

31. In a democracy ...

In a democracy, undermining the democratic process is tantamount to treason.

I say fine them every penny they own and send them to jail for LIFE!!!

Send a message.

Every little counts. The truth is leaking out, as it always does. The deceit is coming to light.

6. It's about time!
Maybe this will lead to the "discovery" that Ohio was won by Kerry. At the very least he or whoever can should demand a full investigation. It sounds like there is one going on now.

Isn't this where it costs $5 to recount the ballots in a county?

7. Even if it doesn't
It will be a heads up that this kind of action really CAN get you in trouble!

If GORE had stayed the course... Then KERRY wouldn't have had to deal with it. Since Kerry didn't stay the course... We need to be thankful that the Third Partys stepped in.

11. I hope you're right!!
Slowly but surely justice is coming. $5 for a recount? Seriously? It shouldn't cost anything. These are the people's votes and they deserve to know their vote counted!

9. Great, now use them to 'smoke 'em out'.
Let's use them to get the other dirty weasels who have had a hand in this. We know more than 12 votes were tampered with... maybe a little fear of jail time by the people on the ground will help the cause.

YES! YES! YES! Finally we're starting to see some action in Ohio!

12. 18 months max! Is that all the time they may serve?
Illegally obtaining and handling of ballots, tampering with votes and ignoring laws should be viewed as as extremely serious attack on our "fair" voting system and contempt for its process. No wonder people think they can get away with these actions- and they will probably will be let off with a fine and warning.

32. Ah yes it does ...

The cheaters are in power and they are being paid VERY well.

The problem is that we put such a low price on tampering with elections. The punishment should be life imprisonment.

These people will do their two years than they will get cushy jobs. They will do the time on behalf of their politico-mafia bosses in the GOP. These white-collar thugs will be out of club fed in a year on good behavior.

16. Let this be a warning in the future
You can and will be prosecuted for tampering with ballots.

We will pursue these crimes even after your candidate has declared "victory".

We're on to you and your methods. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Signed,

An American Voter

33. Great news....how did they ever get a conviction against them, though..
The article is "registration only" so I couldn't read the rest of it. But given that Ohio is locked up by the Repugs how did they ever get to trial?

Is it part of the Green Party Lawsuits or Arnebeck's?

If only this could lead to further investigation and whistle blowing.
