President Ford ordered the largest post-World War II evacuation of U.S. personnel in 1975, when a fleet of U.S. military helicopters airlifted 1,373 Americans and 5,595 South Vietnamese from Saigon's Tan Son Nhut airport and the U.S. embassy to U.S. ships offshore in a 19-hour operation as North Vietnamese forces stormed into Saigon.

1. there are still military helicopters here in the US at Army bases that

could be used to evacuate these people out of there. These conditions just scream for a natural tragedy to turn into a criminal one. There are empty or near empty military bases where these people could be housed. We have both the technological and financial means to get these people to safety. Now the question remains, does this administration have the moral means to save the people of New Orleans?
