Gunfire & Carjackings in New Orleans - Looting out of control -
reporters fear for safety of their lives - people demanding their cameras, money, want to know if they have food...

reporters have left New Orleans for their own safety, telling "people have begun to lose it"

4. You go to a disaster with the help you have
not the help you'd like.

2. I think that people are asking for food is a sign that something other
than criminal activity is going on.

11.  Apple , demanding is not asking.
.
one is threatening, the other is inquiring as in asking for help.

demanding/threatening is not looking for help, it's looking for anything you've got.

It always begins with the looting and then intensifies into general lawlessness and mayhem.

5. These people should be a little more orderly
I can understand if they want food but what the hell do they need with their cameras, I just think scaring off reporters and recuers is crossing the line

8. I think we have NO idea what these people are going through
and as we are not there (thankfully) we should not judge by secondhand news.

10. We needed a strong authority force there & giving hope
The NG would have been perfect. I hope Bush is slammed like hell for his incompetency and lack of leadership.

He makes it sounds like he's being noble by cutting his 5 week vacation by a couple of days to consider the problem.

12. Wheels Coming Off
Out of control looters? They seem to be pretty much a reflection of our leaders and their out of control looting of our treasury and our money to send to Iraq and their contracting friends. How could we expect the corruption on the streets to be better than the corruption in our government. This administration stole from LA, NO, Miss., and Ala, with the help of the leadership there. He stole their preparedness money, their pro-active program to shore up their system (just in case a Katrina came calling) and he stole their national guard. Looting? I figure it's going to get a lot worse, just as our leaders have gotten a lot worse.

13. yep- wheels coming off. depends on who the American people
are going to be angry at....they may not all see it the way we do.

Bush has called the governors and the mayors of all the states and counties asking to come there...they have all told him to wait...guess they're too smart politically to give him a photo op
at this point.
