CARACAS (AFP) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez offered to send food and fuel to the United States after the powerful Hurricane Katrina pummeled the US south, ravaging US crude production.

My church will work through the Red Cross, they typically do in this type of thing, like in the tsunami relief.

The UCC, the UMC and other denominations will have their own efforts. I know the UCC always has their One Great Hour Of Sharing program for disaster and famine relief. CROP and Church World Service are also reliable organizations.
