They can't defend their glorious leader this time.
Remember Bush's inaction on 9/11? Of course you do.

Most of his cheerleaders defended that, saying he was "in shock", "caught off guard" or, most amusingly, "he didn't want to upset the schoolchildren".

Yeah, well what is his excuse THIS time?

We knew days in advance Katrina was coming. For two days before it hit, they knew this could potentially be catastrophic. Not only did he do NOTHING, but he STAYED ON VACATION!

Now, 48+ hrs after the eyewall of Katrina made landfall, he still hasn't done anything. He hasn't addressed the nation and he hasn't sent the resources they need in NO to save the city. He has once again shown that he is an incompetent boob only capable of parroting meaningless catch phrases and nothing more.

ALL HE HAS SAID IS THAT HE WILL TAKE TIME OUT OF HIS BUSY SCHEDULE ON FRIDAY TO FLY OVER THE DAMAGE. FRIDAY.

How can any remotely sane* person defend him this time?

*yeah, I know, I know...

To quote an old teacher's aide I worked with "it makes my blood boil".

8. Because now is not
the time to be partisan. Why interfere with a train wreck happening right before their eyes. The public can see for themselves how incompetent this man is.

10. It really IS too early for that.
Howard Dean sent out an email to everyone encouraging us to donate to the red cross. That's appropriate, I think.

15. I disagree (too early)
Bush had no problem hanging out in CA and AZ for the past two days, playing guitar and eating birthday cake and yukking it up for the cameras.

That is not the sign of leadership in the face of a natural, national disaster.

18. I agree it's too early to just go and start slamming him
But it's NOT too early to plea to him to do what needs to be done, as did the Former Mayor of NO this morning on CNN.

22. forget criticizing
they should be out there HELPING. If I had anyway to get down there, I would. I'm waiting until payday just to send 5 bucks. I can't afford to REALLY help financially and going down to offer physical help isn't an option right now either but if I can send 5 dollars I will. Yes I'm as pissed as the next person about chimpy's lack of leadership but our dems should not only criticize (which is very important to do, I agree) but should also be offering real aide just like we'd hope dumbya would if he weren't so self centered.

Just my two cents.

7. Yes. WHERE'S GEORGE?!
He should have taken off from his vacation on SATURDAY or SUNDAY when he KNEW it would hit the Coast. Instead he stays on vacation and he goes on his guitar slinging photo ops and his cake eating parties with John McCain. This is a DISASTER of NATIONAL proportions -- a MAJOR AMERICAN CITY closed. And where is George?

This man does not WORK. He does not LEAD. A true American President should have left his vacation and gotten as close as was safe and have BEEN in the area to HELP and show his concern. He would have BEEN THERE to WORK hard and LEAD. He would have been there to help contribute, to be part of the team, to give helpful suggestions and, oh, I don't know -- call on the governors of neighboring states? mobilize more people? get equipment and manpower to the scene?

It just infuriates me. This is supposed to be the CEO of the nation and he STAYED ON VACATION while people WERE DROWNING.

11. It takes TIME to prepare unprecedented BIRTHDAY CAKE AIRLIFT !!!
First, ya gotta bake one million birthday cakes.
Then, ya gotta put the frosting on.
Then, there's the issue of all those candles...

19. Hasn't done anything?
Give Georgie a break! What with Cheney in a cryogenic state of suspension, Rumsfeld and Wolfy planning the Iran strategy, what's a retard gonna do? I'm sure Condi and Rove are putting together a strategy of "staying the course" in N.O. right now!

20. Anyone seen Deep Impact??
What we need is the scene at the end, where Morgan Freeman as the president is addressing the nation in front of a backdrop of a ruined Washington DC saying that 'We Will Rebuild" or something like that...

Man, it is sad when Morgan Freeman ACTING as the president is more comforting to me than the ACTUAL president.
