16. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PROVIDE LINKS!
I would love to shove this in the face of a few people, if it is true!

I am not attacking you. I just would love to have the proof. It didn't take until this morning for a co-worker to start whining about how no other countries have offered aid (and she's a leftie!). I was wondering who would be the first to whine about one of the "richest nations" not getting aid. Funny, probably the same people who whine loudest about this are the ones who don't understand why we needed the other countries to stand with us on Iraq, instead of rushing in virtually alone.

There are rumers of offered help declined by shrub. Freepers keep harping about the great help we do for others and no one is offering to help us. PLEASE, is there sources for this?

12. Yeah, but...
That thread cites Sorcha Faal, an alias of whacko conspiracy theorist David Booth

I mean, all you have to do is read about "gun battles between mobs" in New Orleans to know the guy is lying his ass off. And once you know that, how can we trust the rest of it? We need better sources for this.

6. Canada has offered help
Statement by the Government of Canada in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina

August 30, 2005 -- The Government of Canada today issued the following statement in support of those who have endured the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina in the United States:

“On behalf of all Canadians, I wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to those who have lost loved ones as a result of Hurricane Katrina, as well as our sympathies to those who have suffered great losses and personal hardship,” said Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan. “During this difficult time, we are offering our support to our friends and neighbours.”

The Deputy Prime Minister added that she has contacted U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and advised him that Canada stands ready to provide assistance if needed. In addition, the Minister of Health, Ujjal Dosanjh, has directed the Public Health Agency of Canada to contact the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and offer any assistance that may be helpful, such as emergency medical supplies contained in the National Emergency Stockpile System.

26. Thank you for visiting us!
Canadians, for the most part, can differentiate between the U.S. admin (the bush cabal) and it's citizens. We despise bush but see the citizens as neighbours and friends who we want to help when they are in trouble.

We need reliable srouces for this stuff. Not that I'm not willing to believe some of it -- I've heward of aid offers from Venezuela and Canada elsewhere -- but this source is completely untrustworthy.

Bush has squandered our money and more precious resources. He took money away from FEMA and elimanated and downgraded other efforts that could have lessened this tragedy.

18. Pat Robertson's pal Chavez has offered aide
"Chavez says fuel can be sent to the United States through a Citgo refinery that has not been affected by the hurricane. Citgo is owned by Venezuela's state-owned oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela. He also offers to send aid workers to the gulf coast". http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/2250908522 Gee, maybe we shouldn't kill him, just take over his country and Paraquay too maybe.

and here is an article about the slow European repsonse. http://service.spiegel.de/cache/international/0,1518,372348,00.html

22. we should at least consult with the Dutch
over 1/2 their entire country is below sea level - they are experts on levees, dikes, damns, what have you - they might have insights we don't on how to fix this - if it can be fixed. This is not the time for foolish pride and stubbornness. Of course that's what you get with * foolish pride and stubbornness - when he's not being utterly callous.

30. The link you were given only shows an offer,
no acceptance or denial can be linked anywhere on any thread here in DU as of yet. I'm still searching for whether or not we are accepting gracious offers or denying them. Rumors indicate denial, but they are just rumors to me until credible sources are found for this.

Nothing will surprise me, yet everything once revealed, just pisses me off even further... nothing good comes from this administration and for that... we have UNLIMITED reliable sources.

Damn tough existence in this country.

31. Nothing being reported as yet other than the Canadian Red Cross
is sending down 150 experts in sheltering. I just checked our mainstream news sites and there is nothing saying the offer has been accepted but it may be that the government hasn't publicized what help has been requested, it is hard to tell.
