Gas Conservation - Bush Considering Address
I just heard a snippet run across the news here that Bush is considering an address to the nation to call for the conservation of gasoline. Drudge is also reporting this as well.

Sounds like rationing is about ready to start...

2. Sounds good to me - I drive 65 miles each day to work.
Rationing means I'll get to work from home a few days a week - something I've considering for a few weeks now.

It'll be interesting to see if he brings the guitar to the press conference and sings and dances while he delivers the address. I'm sure he'll tell us all about his plans with a gleam in his eyes.

6. All the while
Telling us that the war in Iraq was worth fighting.

A real leader plans for events like this and doesn't put all of his eggs in one basket. Looks like George's just broke. Normally, I might be happy about that, but not when it causes innocent Americans to suffer.

12. You're giving him the credit he deserves.
The man (and the idiots around him) have no foresight. They are single-minded in their determination.

They could not see that cutting taxes, starting a protracted war, and not paying attention to the home front would have a downside. Now the bill is coming due for his sins and we're the ones paying for it. Not the repubs in office, not his admin, not his oil cronies - us.

Every single working person in this country. Every father and mother who busts their balls every day and worries about their kids before they go to bed. Who worries about what their lives will be like when they grow up. Who worries whether they'll have a job next month, and a roof over their heads, and food on the table. We're the ones getting fucked thanks to the pukefuck in the WH.

He drove us straight into a brick wall and didn't even blink - but hey, at least he didn't get a blowjob from an intern.

3. Well, lessee
how Koolaid Nation handles this. They wanted Jimmy Carter's head on a pike for suggesting the same thing. If this is true, Dubya is venturing into precarious waters. Conservation? Making do with less? That's for losers, not two-fisted Americans.

4. just wait
until Cheney catches him in an empty hallway and slaps the shit out of him for even considering it. There's no way they can frame THAT within the context of mindless consumption which is their mantra.

7. *blink*

Rationing? How about rationing for those who drive anything that gets less than, say, 25 MPG?

13. Actually, that would be the effect of real rationing, no?
If you can buy only (say) 10 gallons, your 50 MPG hybrid starts
to look a *LOT* more attractive than your 8 MPG Humjob.

14. Fine ! My husband is sick of working 12 hr days anyway.
:eyes: Your rationing plan will probably mean he won't be able to drive to work everyday. Ah well, that's what he gets for being a 'gashog'.

9. Is he going to keep his sorry ass put and STOP WASTING fuel
by running all over the Country trying to sell his greed based policies to the masses? Conservation should start with the grounding of AF1 and Marine ONE unless and only in emergency situation, not to fly to luxury resorts for never ending vacations!

11. It's a preemptive strike on the Arctic Refuge (ANWR).
Since so many are so against sacrifice for anyone but themselves, they'll piss and moan about not driving their Excursion to the mall, and they'll piss and moan about business hurting, and the sinking economy. "Well, we could always drill in ANWR, right?" will seem like logic.
