If the cimp had a smidgen of the integrity of FDR, he would realize that the only way out of this crisis is a long overdue investment in our national infrastructure (including, yes, nationalized energy companies) to put people back to work. it ended the great depression.
and for god's sake, get the natl guard home where they're needed. that's a noble fucking cause
unfortunately, in the era of delay, cheney, haliburton, and no-bid contracts, they won't attempt anything for the public good and will only look for another get-rich-quick scheme

You're right that we need another WPA, and you're right that it's not going to happen. * would rather chew off his own arm than enact legislation like the WPA.

Things are not going to get better under this less government - less taxes bunch...Someday they will understand that hurricanes do not ask if you are a Democrat or a Republican. Times like these show the need for government.

that I've heard in a long time. My father used to tell me, even in the late 1980s and early '90s, that he thought the WPA and CCC programs were going to be needed to provide a foundation to repair the damage Reagan did to the nation. Bush2 has done far more harm to our economy than Reagan.
