CNNdoes second interview with Lady who Lost B&B and was with Dog in Tree |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 11:39 AM by KoKo01
CNN's Miles O'Brien did a second interview with the woman whose Bed and Breakfast was washed away and she, her dog and 5 others (including a couple in thier 80's) who decided to stay at BB were left clinging to a live oak tree when the the roof collapsed and washed them out.
They clung to the tree for three hours but the couple in their 80's were washed away at some point in the flood ending up on a piece of wood which caught on a house and they were able to break open the window and get into the house which saved the 80 year old couples life.
The Woman, her dog and another man clung to the tree with waves engulfing them for the three hours. When I saw this yesterday I thought it was a wonderful story. I didn't see the dog or the tree in O'Briens report yesterday, but today he went back and interviewed her again. This time she was holding her dog (a large Scotty) and there wasn't a mark or a bruise on her. O'Brien showed the tree where all of them had been. He apparently hasn't found the 80 year old couple but know they survived.
After seeing her interviewed again, today by O'Brien,I think there's something fishy about this story. Interviewed twice and looking at that tree it's hard to see her holding her Scotty dog for three hours clinging to it while the waves and wind wash over her. And two 80 year olds breaking a window in after being washed a way...seems very heroic.
Has anyone else seen both of the interviews? If you did what do you think?
ON EDIT: I forgot...yesterday O'Brien said she had two her two kids in the tree...today there weren't any kids. :eyes:

aussie/lab girl. Survival-release of adrenalin can allow you to do a lot of things one normally couldn't.... But who knows?

3. I saw the first interview twice...the first time I was moved, but hey, I |
|
was already crying about NOLA. The second time I saw the first interview, it rang hollow to me. Sounded like the makings of another Aruba story for the media to pump eternally, regardless of its veracity.

4. Makes For Nice Pictures |
|
There's a real effort to try to put a "good light" on this continuing tragedy. These morons are trying to play recovery mode while the story still hasn't fully played out. There are still people trapped in buildings and flood waters continue to rise in New Orleans. The devestation still hasn't even been put in any perspective.
Reading TV Newser, one network talking head all but admitted how understaffed and overwhelmed they are. Local TV stations up and down the Gulf Coast who could have provided additional material were blown away in the storm, so the networks are stuck with the few ENG teams they've rushed into the area.
It does bother me that the big "feel goods" are the usual white faces and somehow a mention of "god" works its way into the picture. This is what the corporate news channels think gets them the big ratings and that trumps all else when it comes to covering this story. The Production meetings at Faux, CNNServative and MSGOP must be more intense than the three stooges sessions at FEMA.

5. Did you notice how Miles O'Brien was all dressed up in a heavy rain |
|
suit sitting in Baton Rouge during the storm? It was hilarious. He kept holding up his stupid little rain gauge and it was coming in at 12 miles per hour. He looked like a pathetic chicken, too afraid to get into the fray.
I wouldn't put anything past him, he's got to drum up his ratings, that he lost to the Fox guys who were bravely in the thick of things. This was the only time I respect Fox news, ever.

6. It was weird that he was the first person to make it to Biloxi..and when |
|
he was asked how he got from NO to Biloxi so soon after the hurricane...he said "...it wasn't easy we had to drive around downed trees and debris.
I couldn't understand why relief trucks and National Guard couldn't get down those roads but O'Brien...did. :eyes:
