So, has the Public Health Service personnel been dispatched to NO, MS |
|
yet? Or are they still sitting behind their desks in Bethesda, MD and DC? These folks draw down huge salaries and military benefits just like being on "active duty" but sit behind desks in plush offices around the country. I thought their purpose was to act in disasters such as Katrina and Iraq ( a huge disaster)? Anybody know?

I've seen people from FEMA, the Nat'l Guard, the Army Corp of Engineers and local agencies on TV -- and heard them talk about Fish and Wildlife, and some Navy ships presumably on their way, but nothing about any other federal agencies.
Maybe the plan is to wait for Bush to straggle back from the ranch so he can "oversee" the rescue??
Makes me ill.

2. I think it has more to do with the PHS not being prepared to do anything |
|
except wear uniforms and collect big fat pay checks for jobs you and I could do all the while getting all the benefits of active military duty. The PHS Corps was one place where the children of the elite escaped to to keep from going to Viet Nam. I know two of them.
