11. Well, a good pilot can safely make a pass 100' higher than...
the highest building or tower in the area.

I'd imagine he has the best pilots.

17. I could vaguely see the outline of the land vs gulf from the clip they
showed. but in all fairness, they did not say how low he went.

19. No way they'd do anything like that with AF1
I'd be amazed if they went below 25000 ft anywhere except take offs and landings.

22. That plane is just a 747. It can go as low as it wants.
I'd bet the pass was at 500' or so.

26. Good point.
NOLA is essentially at sea level, so there's no significant difference between AGL and MSL. 500' clearance vertically from a 500' tower (kinda high but not out of the question) would be 1000'.

Some great view at jet speeds from 30,000 feet, huh? Real up-close and personal.

10. Such an embarrassing dumb ass. I refuse from this day forward to
use the words president and bush** in the same sentence. I've never believed it to be the truth, but now I refuse to even acknowledge that he got the job by theft and deception. He is officially our Dumbass-in-Chief.

12. What at 35,000 feet? - what the hell could he see?
This is like the time he flew over Iraq at something like 40,000 feet - Fox made it seem like he was henry V leading the English troops into the breach.

13. oh man.. from AF1..
what a putz.. then agian.. saying AF1 is kinda a misnomer.. it's from the 747 AF1. (any plane owned by the Air Force with the president on board is Air Force One).

15. Uh huh. Air Force One goes a hundred miles out of its way.
Our hero. He cares so much, too peek out the window while he flies from his four week vacation back to DC.

No wonder Fox is giving it top billing.

Could you imagine being the asst to the asst to the press secretary and making the call?
"Uh, the president will be flying over New Orleans."

"So?"

"Um, can't you do a piece on it?"

"On what, the president is in a jet plane?"

"Look, just report that Bush is examining the disaster or no more 'interviews'."

"Okay, okay. Sheesh."

18. ARGH
First he cuts FEMA and the New Orleans hurricane protection. Then I see he's out selling the war today. Then I see that he's surveying the damage from AIR FORCE ONE?!?!?!?!?

I am as close to completely flipping over my monitor as I've ever been. This guy is *so* removed from reality, has become *so* disconnected, and it's *so* obvious. ARGHHHHHHHHH

For once in his public life, I wish he would be a fucking MAN already. I cannot imagine any other person in his position NOT reacting to this by:

1.) Demanding the people around you to get whatever you need to sign to get some true aid there
2.) Picking up the damn phone and talking to the authorities down there
3.) Addressing the nation in a meaningful way

I'm not talking about him wading through the water and shit, which would disrupt what rescue efforts have been taking place.

A major metropolitan area is a disaster area. People are dying. People are suffering. People are desperate. People need him to be a man now and what does he do?

PLAYS THE FUCKING GUITAR
