Why is Cindy Sheehan's bus called "White Rose"?
Hi!

A nice reporter from the London Guardian called me to ask if I knew why Cindy Sheehan's bus is called White Rose, and who named it thus?

Can anybody here shed some light on this?

Thanks!

5. A white rose indicates a death in the family.
Traditionally on Mother's Day a white flower indicates that your mother is deceased and a red (or any color) indicates that you mother is still living.

7. Hi Ben - I asked the guys on the bus if they were connected with you!
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 01:32 PM by DancingBear
The bus was parked at Camp Casey 1. and I asked if the guys inside if they had any connection with you. They didn't, but they showed me a binder they had explaining the origins of the tour, the bus name, etc.

In the folder were links to WhiteRose Society, along with info about how you were a clearinghouse/archieve for liberal radio programs, etc.

Here's the sad part - I FORGOT why they named the bus White Rose - and I read the binder!!

This getting old shit is WAAAAYYYY overrated. :)

8. cool
do you think they are paying homage to the same thing - anti-facism? This stuff all relates of course- the PNAC etc. I'll look forward to the answer. I heard at one point her earlier tour was labled the impeachment tour. We need to get focused on the big picture.

10. Well, I assume that too.
But an assumption doesn't answer the reporter's question... :)

16. "... a white rose bush, symbolizing peace."

With tears running down his face, Fernando Suarez del Solar, of Escondido, Calif., the father of Marine Lance Cpl. Jesus Suarez, pictured in background, talks about the death of his son, during a news conference by military families who recently traveled to Iraq, at the National Press Club in Washington, Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003. Suarez was one the first U.S. servicemen killed in Iraq, on March 27, 2003.

Military Families Plead for Pullout
by Robert Gutsche Jr

(excerpt)

Crying as he spoke in Spanish, Suarez said through a translator that he and his son agreed that America should fight in Iraq.

"When I looked into the faces of the children in Iraq, when I saw the miserable conditions in the hospital where the children where, I realized my son died to give an opportunity to the children of Iraq," he said.

While there, Suarez went to the place where his son died and dug up some of the dirt. Back home in Escondido, Calif., he used the dirt to plant a white rose bush, symbolizing peace.
