13. Not True about Jerry Rivers |
There may be some dispute about his first name, which was Gerald but his last name was never Rivers http://www.snopes.com/media/celebrity/geraldo.asp

Geraldo changed his name to make himself sound hip but it used to be folks on the right who called him Gerald Rivers to remind folks he was half Jewish.....

8. I remember Fox News' "20,000 dead!" headline on 9/11. |
I mean, we were all panicked, for sure -- but that sort of sensationalism is unconscionable. I would take anything Horrendo Revolver says with a grain of salt.

11. I could believe that - at least over 500. |
Just think of how many people must have stayed in the city. I would guess, based on surveys done in the past of what people expected to do, that 20% or so didn't leave. This would primarily be lack of transport, money, medical infirmity, or family outside of the area to stay with. So, that would imply perhaps 100,000 people still in the city - maybe 30,000 or so went to the dome, leaving 70,000. Several thousand have been accounted for by rescue personnel, but that still leave a lot of people unaccounted for (50,000+). If even one percent of those died, that would be 500 right there.

16. I don't think there's ever been much doubt that fatalities would be 4 figs |
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 01:35 PM by TahitiNut
I've assumed that fatalities would be 1,000 to 10,000 since Sunday. I'd be very willing to call less than 1,000 a "miracle" and over 10,000 a nightmare of incompetence.
